That looks great. I'm not even a baseball fan, but I'd drop a few pennies to see a game there.

We should be playing the tournament at AutoZone Park in Memphis.

No. Contract with Hoover is thru 2016. Parking/tailgating area/homicides would be major issues to having it down there anyway.

WTF? Why keep it at Hoover when there is a brand spanking new stadium across town? Is regions park in a bad part of town?

Hoover is a "nicer" area, has a shite ton of parking, and more seating. I really think the parking is a big aspect, they can fit hundreds of RVs and probably a thousand more cars there.

The city of Birmingham's leadership will find a way to ruin the new park by next May anyway.

Where else would you suggest it go? Not sure if you're aware, but juuuuuust about every MLB park is in a downtown city setting. I will go to as many barons games as I can this year, all I was saying was it wouldn't be as good a location for the SECT as hoover is.

Minute Maid park was built in a ghetto.

Ten years later, while not flawless, the neighborhood has made huge strides and will continue to do so with te expansion of discovery green and the convention center.

Perception is bad at the moment but as people get more and more comfortable with the area, by coming to te ball park, things will develop.

City will also invest in a lot of surveillance there.

UAB students live across the street from the stadium.

Some of y'all need to chill out...

Is Birmingham still planning to build the 40,000 seat dome or whatever it was?

Nah Larry Langford is in prison and fortunately most of his batshit crazy ideas (Birmingham hosting the Olympics for example) went away with him

I don't know why you're responding to me. However, the Barons game did sell out tonight and they've been in the Birmingham metro area for decades. Also, lololololol at you implying Atlanta is some sort of great sports town that shows up to support their teams. And I'm a huge Braves fan that goes to as many games as possible. That's a discussion for another day though

It's risky but necessary unless everyone is ready to throw in the towel on urban Birmingham.

They really pumped it up on the radio, tv advertising. It sounded like a fun time to be had.

Then they discussed how much police protection, private security, parking attendants etc.. were going to be present.

It's just a damn shame. Made it sound like you'll need an armed guard going to and from the park.

Great addition for the city of Bham. Looking forward to taking in a game and then Good People Brewery across the street after!

Wrong about the support. Birmingham franchise was probably the only ones that got good support. The fans came to see the Americans,Stallions.....

The leagues failed, but if each franchise had the fans the Birmingham teams had, it might have been another story.

No right next to good people brewery, it's a really nice park. Really fun game tonight. It could definitely use more bar/restaurants next door, but Lakeview isn't far away.

Had a blast. Beautiful park. "If you are scared, say you scared". Childrens fricking hospital is right next door and available for parking... this is a great thing for Bham and surrounding areas.
