I get it. It's pretty dumb. But, basically, each class (freshmen, soph., etc) has their own ending to the yells. Freshmen/Soph endings don't include "whoop"; thus they get to add it when they become Juniors. I don't really ever remember this day while I was in school though. I'm assuming this originated from upperclassmen holding rank over the underclassmen in the Corps, but I don't really know.
