It depends on if UGA goes safe and promotes from within the staff

I can promise you that won't happen.

However, I also feel Richt lets too many top GA players slip away like Nkemdiche and Foster taht maybe a new coach can turnaround

The thing is that a lot of metro Atlanta players these days didn't grow up here and have no ties to the state. They may have only been here less than 2 years or so. Nkemdiche's high school coach won a title at bama, and Foster doesn't even live in GA anymore. I understand that you always need to "lock down the borders", but just because a kid resides in your state and wants to go elsewhere doesn't mean you "lost" him.

Look at AJ Green. He lived in SC his whole life and his HS QB went to SC, yet he came here. I don't think SC "lost" him or did anything wrong in his recruitment, sometimes a kid just has his heart set on somewhere and won't consider anywhere else.

This is true in GA more than any other state.

Due to the large amount of people who grew up elsewhere, the state of GA is probably the least loyal state in all of the SEC as far as recruiting goes. Richt has done a tremendous job and honestly, UGA would be viewed differently if shite fell together for yall to win the title in 02. Just a stroke of bad luck.

What about if Richt retires after this year or next year?

Maybe not next year, but if he retied after this year, there wouldn't be too many elite coaches to choose from and a lot of competition to get them. I know I would rather coach at UGA over UT, Aub, UK, or Arky, but still. Tenn is gonna throw stupid money at somebody, and so is Arky. while, on the other hand, UGA is historically cheap in the AD.

Ugh I know, I bring that up fairly often on here. 6 other SEC teams the last 15 years got the breaks, we didn't. Oh well.

Believe me, I grew up in North GA just outside of Chattanooga. So I got witness it and hear it all the damn time.

I do believe 100% that you guys were better than OSU that year and better than Miami that year. I mean yall skull fricked FSU in the sugar bowl and Miami struggled with them.

However, I do get pissed at the UGA fans who believe 07 was their year. I know LSU caught a huge break (understatement), but UGA didn't even win the east. If yall would've just not fricked up against UT that year, you guys would have a title.

But, the thing that hurts UGA's image is Richt going full retard in 09 and 10. Jesus.

Bookmarked to bump after NSD when OM gets their top 10 possibly top 5 class... I don't disagree with the OP completely though.

You can bump all you want after NSD.

do it for 3-4 years in a row, then bump if you want to embarrass me and prove me wrong.

I'm sorry, but Ole Miss is just outgunned with their Acc stadium capacity and the lack of instate talent that they have to share with MSU.

Said nothing about trying to embarrass you. You're pretty insecure if I could accomplish that on a message board. I actually said I didn't disagree with you fwiw. I'm excited about what our class could be. And I agree that we have to battle msu for in state talent... But that's why we're casting the net much broader with recruits from tx, ga, la, NYC, etc. Stop being so dramatic. I have no issue with you.

Okay. Typically when a person want to bump an old thread, it's to make fun of the OP.

Besides, how do you figure on getting in the top 5 in recruiting this year? Rivals has you guys at 25th and 247 at 17th.

And they certainly won't be the lone elite team out of Texas/OU.

Don't need to be. Just need one of Texas/OU to falter, or them both to be average.

Aggies want to dream of taking Texas's talent, but in reality is the OU that became a top 10 power with our birthright. I hope Stoops moves on and they move into a dark time.

A&M can be a national contender along with OU and UT. TX, just like FL, can support 3 elite teams.

They just need TCU, Baylor, Okie lite, and Arky to not steal the TX talent.

OU has a little bit of instate talent too. I don't believe they will ever be down for an extended period of time.

Texas is a huge state with lots of schools. Texas and Oklahoma gets the 1st pick.

A&M, TCU, Texas Tech, Baylor, Okie State, etc battles for the rest.

If you're gonna post on a topic, please at least know SOMETHING about what you're talking about. A&M is recruiting better than OU, and will continue to do so. OU leaches off Texas talent, and these kids would rather stay in-state and play for a young energetic coach at an SEC power.

We bout to rack up son. There are several top recruits expected to commit. All 4 and 5 stars. Some dude named Robert kimmdichee or something is supposed to be coming too. Think he's a badass kicker from what I heard from my source (super secret).

No doubt you guys will be pains in the arse and fricking up seasons for top SEc teams. Freeze was a great hire.

I just don't see you guys winning the SEC, like ever.

I don't see a problem with where you put Mizzou. Contrary to the perception we came into this conference chest pumping and proclaiming we would take it by storm, simply isn't true. This perception was built around what one player said about "old Man Football", and alot of us Mizzou fans defending our school when people piled on we didn't belong here, we suck at everything etc...What self respecting fanbase wouldn't defend themselves?

I think most Mizzou fans saw, and still sees us as a mid level SEC program, with the potential of challenging in our division in some years.

Not to mention programs like LSU, Bama, USCw, etc.

The trick for us is to lock down Houston and get some kids from LA.

Fair enough but if TAMU wants to be part of the team they need to leave the other UT behind. Vols were here first so there is only 1 UT in the confines of SEC conversation.

I don't think you can lock down Houston. Lots of split loyalties.

However, you need pull in at least 10 4 star kids a year from TX and fill in with great 3 stars from TX and a few under the radar type kids from LA. That alone will put you in the top 6 in the conference for talent. Once you're in the top 6 talent-wise, it all comes down to coaching, luck, and circumstance on who comes out on top
