This implies there are other reasons you WOULD suck it.

recruiting is not an exact science. not only are decisions made on the measurables of 17 yr. olds, they are made on the "heart and head" of 17 yr. olds. some kids never progress, some are late bloomers, some lose their motivation, get burned out, flunk out, etc, etc. people are not machines so projecting performance out for 4-5 yrs. is a crap-shoot.

Remember when I was told by recruitards how bad arse Alonzo Lawrence, Star Jackson, and even the kicker Corey Smith were? 2 aren't even on the team now and I'll bet Star never starts a game at Bama barring injury.

How about Tyler Love and BJ Scott? Love isn't even in the running to take a starting spot even though there are 3 open spots. My money's on Love being a bust fwiw. Scott probably won't do shite this year because he's behind on the depth chart.

Mark Barron also got a lot hype and he can't even take the FS spot.

And yes Julio Jones and Donta Hightower are the shite.

So frick anyone who glorifies these HS nobodies.

Great point! If you're 18 and don't come in and start in front of a 22 year old, then you suck. When guys aren't producing before their redshirt year is over, you should probably plan a funeral for their career. If you're a high draft pick in the NFL and you don't start from day one, then you also suck.

Also, if a pure athlete (see Mark Barron) comes in and can't make the depth chart at any of his projected positions, then it is definitely his fault and not at all the coaching staff's fault for not figuring out how to use him. What a bust.

I am pretty sure the teams ranked in the top 10 in recruiting year in & year out, are the same teams that constantly produce on the field every year...USC, Tex, OSU, LSU, UF, OU, UGA, UA, etc.....It is a numbers game, that is why you get to sign 25 kids every year...some pan out, & some don't.

Exactly. Recruiting is half the battle. If you don't pay attention to it, you don't know college football. Period.

Would Corey Reamer even get a Bama offer right now? And the all world Jerrell Harris can't even beat that scrub out.

Here's a fun one for the LSU fans. Name the last Rivals 5* to live up to hype at LSU.

I agree to a point. Recruiting has become ridiculous and 5* players can become busts just as quickly as a 2* can become a star. I enjoy following recruiting during the offseason.

My problem comes in where now many Bama fans try to claim that we are unstoppable because of our recruits and make fun of Auburn for going after 3*. In many cases we do dominate the state get the 4 and 5*. But many championships have been won with 3 stars and a few 2 stars on the team. Yes recruiting is good for us now and it obviously never hurts to sign top talent but we make fun of other schools that sign a 3 star yet if we sign a 3 star its because Saban saw something others didnt or because he fits our system just right. Could that not be the case for another school just as easily? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to get all 5 stars and have the best talent every year but I won't cry if we get 3 stars and I won't tell Aubies that their 4* is not the same as some 4* we got. And as much as I do love recruiting, theres much more important things to be concerned with between now and the begining of January.

Early Doucet worked out pretty well. Al Woods will be our starting DT this year. Terrance Toliver will start this year. Keiland Williams has been a major contributor since his freshman year. Patrick Peterson started last year, his freshman year. Chad Jones has been contributing since his freshman year and will start at FS this year.

Seriously, you're an idiot.

He's kinda close but he didn't live up to the hype. Still a good player.

He's a senior and has done absolutely nothing on the football field to this date.

#1 receiver coming out his year, ~500 receiving yards in 2 years. I hope Reuben Randle is the next Terrance Toliver.

career fricking back up. Did you really come with this weak shite?

Not from day 1. He's played like half a year of mfootbal, jury's still out.

Jury's still out, but he'sm underachieved so far.

You brought these weak arse arguments. The fact is LSU hasn't had a 5* player live up to hype a la Brandon Spikes, Andre Smith, etc, yet you still cream your pants everytime you sign one.

The hype is just out of control. Sometimes I think recruitards would rather win the recruiting war than win on the field.

Uh....he was a beast for 4 years at LSU. He wasn't drafted higher due to injury and speed issues.

I'm sorry, is his career over? He happens to be the starter. He will be fine.

Because we have been stacked at WR during that time. See Doucet, LaFell, and Byrd. Moron.

Only in your own mind. I think you basically convinced most people on this board of your retardedness by attempting to argue that recruiting is "gay."
