Part of the issue is that people really thought they were getting Gruden. I had to ask who JLS was when someone told me they had hired him. Those expectations are hard for everyone to manage when they think they are getting Gruden.

I wonder if they will do what Ohio State did and hire a coach sort of early in the year so he can start recruiting while the interim coach stays on the sideline.

Depends on who comes available later in the year.

We haven't lost a ton of playmakers like OSU so I'm still optimistic

....

Joe Adams, Greg Childs, and Jarius Wright. Granted, Arky does return Chris Gragg and Cobi Hamilton, but that's still almost 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns worth of production. That's the best receiving core Arky has ever had. At least the return of Knile Davis will help.

It seems that even with the people who are available now, that could potentially be a more inviting scenario than coming in at the 11th hour and leading another coach's team.

To be fair Childs was a non factor last year and yeah we lost 2 great receivers. we still have the 1st team SEC qb returning though. Ohio state was missing like what 5 starters? I'm not worried about the offense this year.

Agreed, but he still had some ability and the coaches put him over some others for a reason...

I'm not going to act like I know why.

At least the fricking Jon Gruden talk can finally be put to rest once and for all.

Hmmmm...

I wonder if Smith taught Petrino everything he knew?
