That aspect really is pretty ingenious.
This is why as stated in the video, it's incredibly important to get them off script. Negative yardage plays and penalties hurt any offense, but they hurt them even more because it kills that hurry up, no subbing stuff.

It really is a simple system though. It’s 10 plays with minimal nomenclature that is built to keep the defense from subbing/adjusting. The DLine in football is built around a rotation and if they can’t rotate they get used up and confused. That forces the LBs and DBs to make decisions they are not coached to make, creating more confusion.
This seems like a concern between the regular season and a bowl game/playoff game. With the defensive staff having a ton more time to watch UT is there a worry that it won't work after a layoff as well as other offensive schemes?
Just a thought. This happened to Baylor a time or two when they had layoffs and weren't as productive a month later.
Obviously Tenn. fans will worry about that when they have to and would love to have that "problem" of a staff trying to figure them out for a playoff game since that puts UT in the playoffs

So, just swallow your pride and fake injuries once or twice a series to get the package you want. It's the way of the future.

you mean like UTs defensive players in the 4th quarter vs Alabama?

Sad to say, but it's really the only counter to what offenses are doing. It's only going to become more prevalent. It seems unethical, but it's within the rules and evens the deck.
Until they change the rules, it is unfortunately fair game and honestly good strategy. The alternative is having to score 40+ to stay competitive against quality offensive teams

exactly. If teams can get away with it(and they always can) then why not use it?

I honestly think for some coaches it is just pride. And, as it often will, pride cometh before the fall.
Adapt or die.
