update from facebook:

Fantastic report this am. JH is at his temperature goal. They are discontinuing the paralytic agent and the fentanyl. In someone who has had their temp lowered metabolizes drugs much slower so it may take some time for those drugs to completely clear the system. When they clear they will stop the propofol (sleep agent) and we will wait for him to awaken. The dr said that he is young, has no coronary disease and according to the ems report he received cpr the whole time so he is likely to wake up. His renal function and cardiac function look great. He has no pneumonia or infections. They are starting prophylaxis for blood clots in his legs. Please continue to pray. God has brought us to this point.

My goodness. That has to be your worst fear in the world as a parent. I hope the little fella is alright and they find the issue and remedy it very quickly.

It is the worst fear, realized all too often for many parents. BTW, his son is 42 years of age and is a good sized man.

John Harvey Slocum transferred to Houston

quote:

“He was able to walk some this morning [Thursday] and we are currently following an ambulance to Houston for evaluation and possible defibrillator implantation, maybe tomorrow,” R.C. Slocum said via a school official.

“We appreciate the continued prayers and support,” Slocum said.

It appears they’re on a positive trajectory.
Thought some of you may want to know.
Have a great weekend.
