I always hugged my buddies from the military and regularly said "I love you" to a lot of my friends growing up, so I've tried to dial it back with people who might not be familiar with those types of things.
But what McElwain did, according to a few recruits is hug for "too long". I can't remember where I read it (probably a paywall board that leaked it) but it was really weird.
For Mullen, I don't look at him as goofy as other people see him, but yeah he's definitely a goofball with the shoes and stuff.
It's a non-issue, though, as long as he keeps winning.
