I need to make it out to Auburn. I'll be going back to Gainesville this year, and back to Tuscaloosa next year.
Also, trips to Dallas, Morgantown, and Knoxville next year if at all possible.
Out of the cities I've visited, I've got to say Tuscaloosa wins hands down. Imagine LSU, but located in a city that isn't a complete shite-hole.
Also, they don't have an "ugly" side of campus (see: CEBA)

With the Sledd Dawgs Corn Dog stand in the Library Alley I really figured that would help our chances in this poll. Guess not....

The touchiness in this thread is pretty funny. He's obviously basing his rankings on many different things, which can be difficult to reconcile. Based on his rankings and others opinions in this thread, can't we pretty much all agree LSU has the best tailgating but BR is a shithole, Oxford is the coolest college town, Athens has the best college bar scene, and Nashville is the best actual city?
I'm sure we could never agree on all of this, but this is how I would rank it....

And nobody has even been to Fayetteville, so don't bother including it.

Good God, I thought this was an interesting topic until I saw that it was based on an article in the Reveille. Talk about shite journalism.
SEC fans, please know that most BR residents don't look to the Reveille for serious anything.
I agree, any list that doesn't put Nashville in the top 2-3 is not legit in any way.

I can think of more sec towns that are bigger shite holes.

Hell yeah. BR is underated IMO and getting better all the time. And it's worth mentioning that having NOLA 80 miles away means LSU students have more access to fun on a daily basis than anywhere else in the SEC.

Nashville is in my top three, but lists like this are really based on experiences. Athens is a great place, but if the 'Dawg fans were awful to a paticular person, I going to go out on a limb and say said someone wouldn't rank Athens high.

No doubt I was about to mention the new orleans factor. You step foot out of oxford you are in miss still. The coast is the only area that I like about the state.
And before ole miss fans start running stats about br's crime, it's all in one area of town north baton rouge which I never go to and is 8 miles from my area in south central Br. Br has a lot of great things its still lame in some respects but it's a hell alot Better than some sec towns.

Yeah, but what does New Orleans have to do with BR being a great town? In fact, I think that hurts your argument - if BR is so awesome, why would people need to drive to NO to have fun? Plus, if you include NO in LSU's arsenal, then Ole Miss could do the same with Memphis, Georgia could do the same with Atlanta, etc.
I've lived in BR for the past 7 years, and there are some good things about it, sure. I definitely don't hate it, and there are a lot of fun things to do. But it's not a college town, and can actually be pretty shitty in some regards. Tailgating and the TS experience bump us way up in the rankings, but BR is definitely what brings us down to the 3-5 range compared with the rest of the SEC, imo

so your argument for your college town is about another town that is close by and not counting certain areas of your town? If you have to leave your college town then it sucks. But just in case you do want to do something different, Tunica and Memphis are both closer to Oxford then New Orleans is to BR. No one but you thinks that BR is a better college town than Oxford. Realize youre wrong and STFU

A lot. Part of a town's attractions are the number of things to do in the area. New Orleans certainly qualifies as far as having a number of things to do. Especially from the standpoint of a college student.

BR by itself is in the upper tier of SEc towns as far as things to do. Having NOLA to goto as well is the equivalent of a walk off grand slam.

With all due respect to any other southern city, they don't come close to NOLA as far as night life and great food. NOLA is in a league of it's own.

It's not just a college town, true. But the area immediately around the LSU campus is about as good as it gets. People are willing to pay top dollar to be as close to the LSU campus as they can get.
IF LSU in specific and BR in general did more to develop the Mississippi riverfront, no town in the SEC would come close.
There's a lot to be said for living along side the biggest friggen river on the whole continent.

Too bad OM isnt in Queens. With it being so close to Manhattan, we'd definitely be the top college town. What a joke

Too bad flying cars aren't around, so being smack dab in the middle of nowhere wouldn't be an issue.

sorry we dont have to run away from gun shots or hate BR so much that we have to leave. But we are an hour from Memphis and an hour from the second biggest gambling city in the nation. Nice try though.

There's really no reason for my fellow LSU fans to get so defensive over this. I already said we're the tops at tailgating, it's actually OK to not have the greatest every single thing in the world (y'all are starting to sound like Bama fans).
