I'll try and make this not a flame fest

1- Texas A&M
Despite JFF's shenanigans, as long as he is in there and Sumlin is running the show, hard to root against them

2-Georgia

A team that had over 500 yards of offense against a fellow top 10 team is impressive. Aaron Murray will do better and Gurley won't sit out almost a quarter like he just did. Mitchell missing will spell question marks however

3- Ole Miss

Bro Wallace's ability to run the zone read is unbelievable. For a guy who has limited mobility compared to others running this type of offense, he is easily more productive. He can make the throws necessary to keep the passing game viable and Treadwill will continue to improve. HUNH also plays in their favor, especially with Wallace's ability to run the zone read

4- LSU

Mettenberger had a decent game and LSU played well against a consistently top rated defense. I personally believe that TCU is overrated on a yearly basis, especially on D but for now, LSU played solid and deserve some respect

5- South Carolina

Against a decent UNC Tarheel team, South Carolina showed that they dominated the game. Truth is, South Carolina's offense is significantly better than the stats would suggest. Spurrier doesn't seem to blow teams out but they always seeem to put the right amount of points on the board to dominate

6- Alabama

Hard to imagine that AJ McCannon will play that horribly again. Especially when Christian Jones and Amari Cooper are catching balls for him. Let's not forget that TJ Yeldon was mediocre and we all know that will not be the case all season. When their OLine can get their heads out of their collective asses, they rise up big time in the rankings

7- Mizzou

If the game was against someone not named Murray State, they would be significantly more impressive. Franklin played a heck of a game for Mizzou and they had dual 100 yard runners. DGB seems like he is poised ot break out averaging over 20 YPC. They have the potential to be explosive but questions about how their OLine will fair against SEC opponents remain as Murray State didn't apply pressure like SEC dlines will

8- Arkansas

2Bs put together a heck of a show. Alex Collins appears to be the real deal and will continue to improve. Along with guys like Treadwill, he will be in the talks for SEC Offensive FOY. ULL was a solid opponent and shouldn't be taken for granted which is why they are above UTk.

9- UTk

Tennessee played a heck of a game blowing out Austin Peay. Graned they are a bottom of the ladder type team but Worley was 11/13 with 3 TDs. That is not easy to do even against the worst of opponents. They also recorded two 100 yard rushers. Their OLine will be solid.

10- Vanderbilt

Vandy is missing Zac Stacy big time in my opinion. Kimbrow is great but he isn't the pounder that Zac Stacy is. Let's also not forget that there is a significant downgrade at QB after Rodgers left. Rodgers could change games and make throws which CSamuels can't. He floats passes and weak armstrenght. If you take Jordan Matthews out of this offense, they are pedastrian at best. Luckily Jordan Matthews alone can carry this offense with his unbelievable ability to make the big play when needed (except on the last pass of the game)

11- Auburn

Auburn can run the ball. Washington State returned 9 players wth starting experience on defense including some with all conference accolades. Auburn had 3 guys average over 5 YPC and they were not even running their full offense at the HUNH speed. Nick Marshall improved and was 8/11 in the second half which would indicate that his passing will come along. The run game alone was impressive and if the passing comes along they could be some serious movers

12- Flordia

Toledo is a solid team but to put up less than 30 points on a midmajor is rough. Florida doesn't have a dominant running back and Driskel isn't going to wow you with his arm which considering the lack of stars at receiver takes away their explosive ability. Luckily for Florida, they don't need an offense to bust games open as their defense again will win them games

13- Kentucky

About what we expected. Going against a Petrino defense they whould have been able to do more but the fact is, they are trying to build and their Offense still has a long way to go. Solid effort but you can't expect much

14- Grinders

TRussell is out with a concussion I hear which hurts. Add to the fact that despite their oline seeming pretty dominant early against OSU, they did not run the ball or pass the ball well. Credit should be given for going against OSU but the fact is, OSU is not a defense first team. The loss is acceptable but to only score 3 points, that is sad and rough hence last place

A&M may have played Rice but scored 52 points with JFF only playing 5 series for the game. We ran the ball with authority and were able to throw the ball all over the field at will, only 4 drives ended without a score and 1 of those was running out the clock at the end of the game.

A&M
OM
LSU
Arkie
Bama
Auburn
State

Bama's O line will be a problem all season.

Legitimate point but I still think AJM and company will show better than 5th. I think Marshall will get better too, don't get me wrong.

Didn't they lead the Big 12 in defense last year?

In points allowed, yes.
In yards given up, they were 4th I think

Regardless, nobody plays defense in the Big 12. LSU had a very good showing, but I wouldn't view TCU as a dominant defense

I went to edit my response, but I was not fast enough since you pointed out the error in 2.5 seconds.

I now see that we weren't talking about the SEC as a whole so the poster could put LSU at #1 (since he didn't bother ranking the teams anyway).

1. Texas A&M(The vaunted passing efficiency stat the gumps love so much was out of control this week for Manziel, at the highest in the nation by far, I don't see how any gumps could disagree)
2. Ole Miss
3. LSU
4. Alabama
5. Auburn
6. Arkansas
7. Mississippi State

Yeah, a lot of my brethren need to seriously pump the brakes and give it a couple more weeks at least before anointing our offense with anything.

206 yards total offense for Bama and you have them 4th?

This isn't season projections gump, just week 1.
