I remember how highly regarded he was transferring to LSU. I want to know what y"all thought about how he developed and how his play changed over the course of time. I mainly want to know if you see any similarities between Coker and Mettenberger considering they are virtually the same size and have the same ridiculous arm strength. Is he farther ahead than Mett from what you have seen on film as far as where they both were at that point in their careers? (ie. pre-transfer/mop up duty). Of course, this thread doesn't mean shite if Coke doesn't come here so I guess it is a bit hypothetical.

Mett got a lot better once Cam showed up. He hid a have a couple of really good games towards the end of 2012 though. The 3 first half picks against Ole Miss are a pretty big black mark on his LSU carer though.

Cokers arm, from what I've seen, is nowhere near Metts arm. Mett had a Ryan Mallet type gun and touch when he wanted it.

Coker is basically Jeff Driskel in my mind. Physical tools. Could turn out great if he develops as a starter.

This is still a thing?

I think Mett blossomed once he was under a true QB coach.

Coker is obviously more adept at running the ball than Mett. That could be a good thing or a bad thing, though. Watching what film I've seen on him, when he gets a little pressure he likes to tuck it before he follows his protection.
That said, both have very strong arms. I think Mett may have been a step further (not much) along as a true polished passer at a similar step in his career.

Similarities:
Arm Strength
Received tutelage from 2 of the best CFB QB coaches around-Jimbo and Richt
Size
Involved in a tough QB battle with a proven BCS conference starter

Differences
Mett has more accuracy
Coker is far and away more mobile
Mett was coming to LSU from juco where he threw for 32 TDs and 4 INTs so to some degree there was a level of understanding about his skill level above high school. Coker is an unknown.

Metts development-he was on the 2011 team and didnt start then had a mediocre year in 2012 but the light came on towards the end. Cameron finished it off and he had one of the best seasons in LSU history. 3rd in passing yards and passing touchdowns in a season.
