Nothing. I'm just always amazed out how Ole Miss and Col Reb can bring folks from opposite ends of the spectrum together.
This would make for a great sitcom. Two completely different families from opposite ends of the financial spectrum united by their common desire for racist mascots.

While I'm a LSU fan; I have a soft spot for Ole Miss. (you guys are TFM to the max, Oxford is fun, and I find the Southern ambiance charming) I'd love to see y'all get Colonel Reb back!

Am I the only one who is tripping out at all of the State College fans calling us the racists? As if, out of all 'DEM COUNTRY BOYZ at State College, there are no racists. None whatsoever.

quote:Yeah, probably. Whoever said we had no racists. It's just that this would set OM apart from just about anyone if it came to pass (which it has about 0.009% chance of happening), and would set back the recruitment of black athletes to Oxford for years. Now that ought to trip you out!

We do a better job of hiding them. Better yet, we didn't have a mascot that glorified a racist past.

You would, your mascot has Civil War ties too.

While I do not support everything about the Old South (slavery especially) Its culture is absolutely awesome and should be preserved.

Hell, I would go door to door with a red shirt on campaigning for it - then vote yes. What an incredible folly for anyone associated with Ole Miss.......
I really do find it funny that the very fan bases who beat their dicks to the tune of "OLE MISS IS RACIST!!!!" now talk about how we should bring back Colonel Reb, Dixie, etc.
frick you and frick the Colonel Reb foundation. This shite has gone beyond full retard.

I think what he's trying to say is that, he doesn't support Col. Reb, but if it makes OM look stupid, he's all for it.
And I agree.

Used to live in Bay St. Louis and was born in Brookhaven and even though living in Montana now, I will always associate Colonel Reb with Ole Miss, if I could vote I say Yes to Colonel Reb.; It was the tradition that I grew up with as an opposing fan.

screw that damn colonel but bring back FDWL, damnit. Screw ole miss, screw oxford, screw all the average looking girls in sundresses and jumbo shades. But that song will always give me chills.

FWIW, nothing in that song is ironic.
But the fact that a song entitled "ironic" doesn't have any irony in it is, in a way, quite ironic... don't you think?
