You recall wrong. Alabama was moving the ball VERY effectively.

I think that too, but I didn't wanna piss off the LSU people who were saying RR dropped a pass in the end zone.

That was a busted coverage by Bama, which I doubt will happen again.

It'll happen again...to both teams. These are college kids. They bust coverages all the time. Both teams are going to make mistakes giving huge opportunities to the other team. It's about who takes advantage of them the most. Either team could win, but if it's close going into the fourth, it should belong to LSU becaus of superior depth.

LSU played a perfect game at home and barely beat Bama because Bama played their worst. Now the championship is in Birmingham, Bama has gotten so much better since then, LSU has remained stale, Bama has won tons of big games all year, LSU has not won anything of note, etc. Bama wins this one going away.

I recall 3 decent to good runs and a couple of broken coverage plays that helped you move the ball on the first 2 drives.

Richardson had a big run on the first play. Don't really take that to mean much.

Lacy had 1 run of 20 yards on the second drive.

On the first 3 drives outside of those plays, Bama averaged 1.25 yards per carry. If you look at the entire half, Bama only averaged 2.4 ypc outside of those two big runs. They sure were killing LSU.

Oh, it was nowhere near a catchable ball. If they wanna claim it should've been a holding penalty, they are entirely right. It was blatant holding on Bama's DB on that play. The pass, however, was just gunned and way too far in front of him. If JJ throws it with touch it's an easy TD.

I'm not sure I understand. 1 and 2 yard plays happen. Did you see the defenses on the field? Since Alabama's avg wasn't good should they have sat down on every play? Instead of gashing LSU every 3rd play?

You assumed that going inside was guaranteeing you some advantage. It didn't. Bama had 4 runs of 10 yards or more in the first half. They had 12 rushes for 4 yards or less. So by your count that means 1/4 times they'd get a big play. Furthermore Bama had 7/16 rushes (nearly half) for 2 yards or less, and 9/16 for 3 or less.

So more than half the time, it netted basically nothing at all.

No. I assumed it wouldn't lose 6 yards and knock Alabama out of field goal range.

It should be very interesting game. I see hm field advantage as major factor playing in LSU favor. Are you attending the game?

To add to that, in the second half, Bama had:

1/12 runs go for over 10 yards.
2/12 runs go for over 3 yards.

9/12 runs went for 2 yards or less.

Literally, even with Richardson's beastly run that should've been a 2 yard game but he turned into 24, Bama still average 3 yards/carry in the 2nd half.

So Bama had 29 rushing attempts (I didn't count Maze's reverse before) in the game. Of those 29, 6 went for more than for yards. SIX.

Outside of the 3 big runs (15+ yards), Bama had 26 carries for 40 yards.

This doesn't even account for the sack yardage.

This time around hatchet likely won't be at the first point of attack. Minter is solid at wrapping up

Trent knocked Minter silly one time. The Bammer was right, the missed tackles are going to happen again. I'd be very satisfied if LSU tackles as well on 1/9 as they did on 11/5.

So you want to ignore everything outside of the first quarter? Typical Bammer.

The Maze pass was a great play call. That play was the closest Bama ever got to the end zone. They took a shot and it would have worked just as the Bama coaches drew it up, but the knuckleheaded receiver running the drag route ran behind the ref. He showed very poor judgement and brought Reid into the play. Had he not done that it's six points easily. Great call by the coaches; crappy execution by the players.

I'll agree. That's exactly what happened. Plus Maze threw that shite in the clouds. But physical mistakes happen. Can't be TOO upset about those.
