I assume these are your starting 3.
Outside of these guys, who on that list is worth a damn? Have any of those guys played, I've never heard of them. I havent heard much about Square or Dial, but I do remember thier names.
How do bama fan's feel about thier depth along the DL? Seems weak to me.

well let's see, I am assuming that wasn't aimed at me, because I was agreeing with you.

Square blew his knee out early in the 09 season and missed the entire year. He saw a good amount of PT last year. He had a great showing in the bowl game.
Dial is a JUCO transfer.
Chapman started every game last year, and was spelled by Gentry all year. Both saw significant PT, and should be fine.
A lot of unproven depth, but the talent is there.

Maybe. Starters havent really been figured out yet. Itll be Chapman, and then 2 of the 4 out of Williams, Stinson, Square, and Dial.

Fine depth

Its just like anybody's D-line depth. I'm sure if I looked at LSU's second and third stringers I wouldn't have any idea who they were. We have a lot of 4 stars who haven't seen time yet. Just because they were 4 stars doesn't mean they'll be good but I'm not sure we really have depth issues.

Probably correct.

A couple of others have decent playing time the last couple of years. How many college teams have a lot a second string DL with significant meaningful playing time? Probably very few. The second string at Bama is talented but inexperienced like a lot of teams.

I feel okay about it. I think that position has been recruited well over the last few years. I think they have guys that can do their blue collar jobs and let the LB corp show out.

We will find out soon whether it's weak. It's probably the weakest part of Alabama's defense, but that is a very relative assessment given the strength of the Back 8.

Yah, and it starts at with the QB.

Didn't Lsu win the BCS in 07 after losing 4 1st Rd picks including the the #1 overall pick.
Why would an LSU fan ask such a dumb question.
The Bama back 7/8 will be the best seen since the division split in 92.
Best secondary and Lber core in the country.

Not sure, but LSUs depth at DE is 5 deep that are all SEC battle tested and proven. After that you have more talented guys that are less experienced. DT is thinner.

I would think everyone agrees because of how stacked the LBs and DBs are, but I think it's flat out weak, period. I dont see any playmakes in that group. Are any of these guys all SEC potential? Who is looking best in practice?

How can a team who lost 4 first round picks (including a heisman trophy winner), and a two year starting QB, from a team that lost 3 games be one of the heavy favorites to win the BCS. Are they that deep across the board that they can just fill in these huge losses and not just miss a beat but be better than last year?
Bama returns:
19 Starters
51 Lettermen
7 Starters and 23 Lettermen on offense
9 Starters and 24 Lettermen on defense
3 Starters on Special Teams

Josh Chapman for sure. Damion Square is a very good player as well. I think Ed Stinson will definitely be good for us this year.

So Chapman and Square are good. Noted.
We'll see how it plays out.
