Steven Clark of AU who leads the SEC and is 2nd in the NCAA with punts inside the 20 yard line and who allows 5.1 yards per punt return is a semi-finalist.

Brad Wing of LSU fame is also on the list.

I wouldn't be surprised if both make the final 3.

UPDATE: Finalist.

There should only be one semi-finalist.

Wing allows something like .02 yds per return.

After watching them play a few games, I didn't even realize Houston had a punter.

If anyone other than Brad Wing wins it then I'll never pay attention to the Ray Guy award again...oh, wait...Nevermind.

Clark has 3 games left to close the gap. I predict a couple more shanks by Wing before the season is over.

Should be a tight race.

Apparently the key to having a good kicking game is to recruit those baby face kickers.

he has only shanked it once, and it was horrible timing for it.

also, is the AU punter 2nd in the SEC (behind melvin ingram ) in YPC?

Not sure where he ranks, but he is tied for first for fewest 15 yard penalties and TD's called back.

The 10 semifinalist are:

Ryan Allen (Jr.) - Louisiana Tech
Ian Campbell (Jr.) - UTEP
Steven Clark (So.) - Auburn
Bobby Cowan (Jr.) - Idaho
Scott Kovanda (Jr.) - Ball State
Richie Leone (So.) - Houston
Pat O'Donnell (Jr.) - Cincinnati
Jackson Rice (Jr.) - Oregon
Brian Schmiedebusch (So.) - Bowling Green
Brad Wing (Fr.) - LSU
Couldn't find an NCAA statistic for punts inside the 20.

Wing is ranked 21st in net yards per punt at 43.41 yards. This doesn't take into account the short punts inside the 20, 10, and 5.

prove false, first of all. Second, how does this help his punt? Hitting a wire makes it go farther? I guess friction helps now?

without hitting the cable, it obviously wouldve been downed inside the 5

also, the CBS camera techs are 100% that it did NOT hit the cable. Have yet to see proof that it DID hit the cable. Anyone have it?
