Just my two cents...
I live in East Baton Rouge Parish (EBR) and the people here are nice and cordial. Game Day in Baton Rouge/LSU is a great atmosphere. Of course there are places you wouldn't want to go (Heck, there are places people who live here won't go!) But that's the case in every city in the US. I have a friend who lives in Chicago and he and his family enjoy and feel safe in Chicago, but there are places you just don't go.
Go enjoy the game (win or lose) and I'm sure you will agree that BR is a good place.

Anyone who investigates the facts will learn that the vast majority of BR is safe. All but a few homicides occur in very poor areas and are connected with drug deals or gang activity.There are some bad areas north of campus after dark but unless you're strolling thru after dark you won't have a problem. But if you're a rebel/bear/shark on the field in Death Valley Saturday night you will get your butt stomped.
