"The most memorable game I've had this year, I've got to say, was Auburn, because after the first couple of hits, everybody (on Auburn's defense) was just backing up," said Copeland, a sophomore from LaGrange, Ga. "They didn't want to hit at all. ... Before I got to them, they just fell down and just laid on the ground," Copeland said.

Some of those broadcasting the game also observed that Auburn defenders sometimes seemed to shy away from contact with Copeland.

"I actually said, 'C'mon man, you're better than that. C'mon, hit me,'" Copeland recalls. "That was like the only game I went home and had no nicks and bruises at all."

Auburn defenders 'just fell down,' LSU fullback Copeland claims
I knew there was some sort of reason as to why a Bama fan would post something positive about LSU

Copeland does concede, however, that he met his matches at Alabama on Nov. 5 in linebackers Courtney Upshaw (6-2, 265) and Dont'a Hightower (6-4, 260).

"They're real good," Copeland said. "They're good in space. They come down and hit you and everything. They don't fall down before contact."

Copeland expects to make some effective adjustments when he faces the Crimson Tide again Jan. 9.

"I've got to emphasize being fast this time and getting to them before they get to my running back," he said. "I could've made a lot more plays than what I did in the first game. I saw on film that they kept anchoring down in the hole, and I would just bounce off them. So this time I'm going to really work inside on running my feet and running through them. I have to force my 280 pounds on them."

Our Copeland/Stampley FB tandem is an oddity in college football. It's a huge part of why our ground game absolutely kills people in the fourth quarter. When you can rotate two huge beastly strong FBs who can both plow over people along with extremely strong RBs, it's demoralizing for the other team.

LSU player who doesn't get the praise

This is a funny ha ha comment. Those of us who are LSU fans know how valuable our FB's are, really. It is the other teams, like the gumps, who do not appreciate what they are about to face in our backyard

Gonna be fun to watch the wake-up

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that LSU fans don't appreciate their fullbacks. I don't read Louisiana newspapers, but from a national perspective I have not seen much to anything written about your fullbacks, while the Honey Badger, running backs, JJ and your other DBs get plenty of national pub.

Can't we just have a nice peaceful thread between LSU and Bama fans? We can use this thread to make fun of the scared auburn defense together, which I did not know was mentioned in this article until the observant LSU fans pointed it out to me.

I officially give up! It has been proven there is no way to have a civil thread between Bama and LSU fans until after this damn game.

You know the only reason you posted this was because he said the Bama lb's gave him the most trouble.

I'm pretty sure both teams can say that their game against each other was their toughest match-up all season. I don't think that is any secret or groundbreaking revelation.
