Tuscaloosa is Auburn country? Those borders couldn't be more wrong, considering the state leans 70% Alabama.

Right now anyway.

Demographic poll

The answer in 2011: Of the 577 registered voters in this state who participated in the telephone survey and were representative of the state demographically, 215 (or 37 percent) identified themselves as Alabama fans while 102 (or 18 percent) called themselves Auburn fans.

Not quite sure who the other 45% were.

So, contrary to popular belief, there hasn't been a surge in Alabama fans or a drop in Auburn fans since Saban arrived with so much fanfare and turned his promise into performance.

I found this very commendable.

No, it is usually around 65-70% pro-Alabama.

I was going by actual research conducted. 66/33 is right for those who are only either UA or AU fans, which is apparently 55% total. That's why my question regarding who the other 45% are. Not CFB fans at all? Some other club? Doesn't say.

In fact, more people called themselves fans of both schools (115 or 20 percent) or neither school (126 or 22 percent) than singled themselves out as Auburn supporters

If they're gonna put 6 straight, it should only be Bama/LSU/UF on the map.

Edit: Forgot about Auburn.

A poll of 575 people, in a state of over 4 million, during an election, is "research"?

There's only three States in the South that comprise 6 straight National Crowns.

The rest of yall are ridin coattails.

Good Gawd. Tell it to...

Gerald Johnson is the director of the Capital Survey Research Center in Montgomery.

I'll leave it with this:

quote:

"There's more fandom in this state than just Alabama and Auburn," Johnson said. "People think it's all Alabama and Auburn. That's simply not so. Both UA and AU should be a bit more humble after seeing the data. Neither school has anywhere close to a majority exclusive fan base."

That's complete horseshite. I think both Alabama and Auburn fans can agree on that. While other fans are in this state, they do not dominate a large percentage on the total numbers. I'm happy for this guy that he can be convinced by a sampling of 575 people out of 4.5 million. I mean, I could go to Huntsville and interview people on their fandom. NASA brings in people from all over. I'm sure the numbers would reflect that. But it wouldn't reflect the state overall.

Should've picked a mascot other than one shared by most any high school in the continental U.S.

Apparently that's his job.

Didn't you take statistics?

The only reason I posted what I did was the assumption "considering the state leans 70% Alabama" you posted. If you have something to support this, I'm all ears man.

Everyone in the State of Alabama are either a BAMA fan or an Auburn Fan. Id say less than maybe 5% are either UAB or Troy fans. Hell even the people that go to UAB and Troy are either BAMA or Auburn fans.

Id say its a little above 60/40 in BAMA's favor.
