Dont know if you guys know this but MSU poster CoonassBulldog/Coach34 on MSU boards has been defending Pel's firing on our MSU board. He claims that Pel was turning things around and cleaning up Heath's mess and he was a year away and got fired. The main reason he is doing this is b/c he has been saying for 4 years that Pel is a far superior coach than Rick Stansbury.

I, personally, fear being the basketball version of people old enough to remember the football teams of the 60's and the '69 shootout.
I could drone on for hours about the teams from 88 to 2000-ish, but the average joe doesn't give a frick and it's ancient history by now.

Thanks to us firing Pel, we didn't have a major roster turnover. We're returning all players now it looks like, but the major ones(Clarke and Powell) will return, while they would have left if he was retained.

You really think Clarke would have left? What was the problem between him and Pel? It seems as if he started since he arrived on campus and played TONS of minutes.

Exactly. Long hinted to such during the announcement.
Also, the players that showed up, or more accurately did not to Pel's presser today should be very telling as well...

He was begged to stay last year. He was ready to transfer to Gonzaga or Kentucky last year. He was planning on leaving this year if Pel was retained.

Didn't know that. What was his beef with Pel? Or was it just the fact that he wanted to compete for a Championship somewhere.
