i am more concerned if we stick with the 3-4 after we clear house. i would like too.
and in all seriousness grantham has never been my favorite coordinator but i think if he gets the parts he wants, and i think this year he is happy with everything but safety, then he may be half competent. but i am one of the few still cautious about him. damn bud foster and ellis johnson

Mike Bobo absolutely trashed Bud Foster in only his 2nd game as OC.

one of bobo's better games but he only trashed him in the second half. ill take his body of work and i have always liked him. but he was never leaving VT. ellis johnson would have been the best hire IMHO but i like both better than grantham.

I have always loved Grantham, I think he's great. I believe we'll have a top 3 defense in the league this year.

i agree. i think he can do it. i may be writing it wrong, im not saying we have a bad DC just that he wasn't necessarily my first choice (like it matters) and that i wasn't to impressed with him at times last year. love his fire though, hope he lets it all out and doesn't let anyone calm him down. but if he does another choke sign then i say fire his arse. last thing we need is people bitching about that.

I wish he'd do more choke signs and grab his nuts while he does it.

if he doesn't get caught then go for it. i was just so damn annoyed when we already had to deal with losing to UF, again, and then we had to deal with shite head giving a kid a choke sign. it was just embarrassing and really the last thing Georgia needed. if we had won i probably wouldn't have cared but hey man, who's fault is it that UF's most inept offense in year just ripped your defense to shreds.
that and his strategy vs yech was

@woopigsooie20
Why do you think bama will finish at 11-1 and LSU 9-3?

Hmmm... I don't know. Didn't UGA lose their best defensive player?
They were #5 in scoring defense last year, so I guess that wouldn't be too big of a climb.

Tougher schedule? IDK, I just think LSU is being overhyped this offseason.
I think LSU loses to Oregon, Alabama and Arkansas.

there problem last year was 3rd down. and he was our best player but honestly i don't think its too awful a loss. apparently he took plays off and while he was a great pass rusher he was nothing special in the run game IMO.
we have probably one of our most talented LB corps this year, biggest DL's, two stud CBs, and umm at least we have safeties. they could be very, very good

Yes.

And that was in our first year with a completely new defensive scheme and missing the key, essential component of the 3-4. We have the potential to be nasty on defense if we can get above average play from the safeties. Everywhere else should be tremendous, especially the DL and LB.

i honestly think this next year we will go back to pre stafford days and become more of a defensive team again. i see our offense slipping because of the OL and our defense really improving into our strength.

And Rainey is a much better fit than people give him credit for in the pro offense. He played more of a straight ahead running game in high school and was unstoppable at the highest levels of Florida HS football.
Didn't he run behind the Pouncey twins at Lakeland? That doesn't really count

I definitely wouldn't bet against UF in the east this year.

I think Florida will be strong on defense as well. The pedigree of Muschamp on defense combined with Florida's talent on defense makes me think they'll be really really good.
They had a new system last year, and some of the worst ends at florida in 2 decades, and they still ended up #4 in the SEC in scoring defense. And that was with a HORRIBLE offense.

Yes, he did have a good line at lakeland. Those teams with rainey won like 3 straight titles.
Black also played there.

didn't he always run the 4-3 at Texas and AU? with muschamp being a defensive guy and if i am remembering correctly with his usual base defense is it weird he is moving yall to the 3-4? or did he run the 3-4 all his career as a DC and i am just a ratard?
Posted on 5/19/11 at 2:55 pm to slayerxing
Yeah I used to follow those guys a little bit, won a couple "national titles" I believe? Unreal a high school could trot that kinda talent out and they didn't exactly cakewalk through the other Florida teams.
