Don't try to reason with Carolina fans. I live in Columbia and I hear the same shite every offseason. Gamecocks will go 8-4 and take a massive L to UGA and Clemson along the way.

You live in Columbia to be a spy for Georgia?

Well said, I agree with this assessment. To be clear, I think USC will be the second best team in the east for the next 3 years at least. USC has a really bright future, and will compete for the second best recruiting class in the east every year.

It isn't necessarily a bad thing to be "second" in an SEC division. As we saw last year--the second best team in the SEC west can still make the CFP.

In a way, I don't think Bama's domination of the west has been bad for MSU. (and I have a similar train of thought regarding USC in the east with the rise of Georgia.) Pretend you're MSU. We would not normally expect to compete with Bama. We historically hope to just scratch out some wins against the people that do try to compete with Bama. But Saban has single-handedly crushed a lot of his competition in the west. He destroyed the LSU football program, and now LSU competes with MSU. Not saying it will forever be that way, but simply that these dynasties can destroy the competition, allowing someone like MSU or USC to rise up.

South Carolina fans are by and large one of the most self-aware fanbases in America. You don't turn on 107.5 and here the fans talking about winning the East or the SEC. For a UGA fan to talk about delusional fans is absolutely hilarious.

I really feel like USC fans are some of the most reasonable in the SEC. Don't judge them as a whole based on a few idiotic fans. But yes, the comment that their facilities are as good as UGA's is clearly an exaggeration at best.

Because it's easy to compare the two facilities ... plus I know people on both sides, good friends with a major UGA booster, and he admits as much although he says y'all are catching-up.

So, I get honest assessments from people within the program that visit the inside of the various facilities when they travel there for home games ... people whose positions I shall not name but honest people who give unbiased opinions. Coaches and trainers and equipment people and associate ADs who are inside your facilities.

A&M's facilities are second to none. They all rave about A&M's facilities.

Bama's are next. Bama's facilities are incredible.

Arkansas has great facilities and so does LSU.

Florida is behind right now but they are starting to catch-up.

Georgia is behind right now but they are starting to catch-up.

So what exactly are the "facilities" that are important to recruiting?

Indoor Practice facilities are huge these days.
Football operations buildings.
Practice locker rooms.
Game Day locker rooms.
Weight training facilities.
Practice fields.
Training room facilities ... pools, saunas, soft tissue care, rehab, etc.

Another big one is the dorm/housing facilities ... huge. South Carolina's 650 Lincoln Athletic Dorms were just rated #1 by the SIDs in the conference.

Another huge one that the parents really focus on ... Athletic Academic Enrichment facilities and South Carolina's Dodie Center was rated as one of the Top Five in the entire country.

And finally ... nutritional facilities, athlete's chow halls and fast food type facilities. I guarantee you that if you could see what SC offers it would blow your mind.

Then you take into account the facilities overall beautification projects ... I dunno when the last time you've been to SC but I see so many UGA fans claiming the area around Billy-Brice is all warehouse district ... they tell on themselves when they claim that.

The farmer's market is gone, been gone. That's all premium game day parking with grass and maples and paved brick walkways these days. Brick columns. Luxury game day highrise condos. Just beautiful. The fairgrounds are the same, surrounded with old school rought iron Charleston fencing and brick pavers and palm trees and maples and oaks.

Then there is the stadium itself. The rought iron gates, the brick pavers, maples and oaks ... hell, it's beautiful. It completely changed the way we look down on things from our Cockaboose. It's beautiful.

So I was in Athens last year and there is no comparison right now, ours look much better. I've watched UGA improve over the years and give full credit ... every time I go down there it gets better, but we're ahead of UGA right now in the facilities department on almost every level, (basketball, baseball, softball and tennis too quite honestly plus we have the finest new golf practice and training facility in the conference).

So I've talked to big boosters from other schools, talked to people within our athletic department that visit other schools, served on a certain board at SC that delves into keeping up with the Joneses, contribute to our booster organization and see yearly comparisons which they send out to us as motivators to keep us donating big bucks ...

Listen, I readily admit no one is going to catch A&M and Bama in the facilities and ammenities departments. Although, the tailgating facilities and overall experience are better at SC ... those don't really count toward recruiting which is what it's all about.

SC is Top 4 or 5 in football facilities right now and we are endeavoring to move into #3 within the next few years. It'll be tough with the major projects UF and UGA and UT have planned.

Our football ops building will be completed in six months and it will be second to none.

Soon we will fund and begin work on our East Lower project inside the stadium.

It goes on and on and it'll never stop, not in thr foreseeable future anyway.

I've got family who are big Tennessee fans who were down here for a week last month and we had a little party at the Cockaboose and even they admitted we've surpassed UT in overall facilities once they took the tour .... although they are always going to claim Neyland is better based on pure size alone and they told me their nutritional program and chow facilities are just as good ... but they admitted our Academic Facility is newer and nicer and our new football ops facility is going to be a palace and our indoor practice facility is newer and nicer and our area surrounding the stadium they admitted might be the most impressive in the country. They have never been in the locker rooms so they couldn't tell me about that but ... anyways. It is what it is. I'm not biased when it comes to things like this because these are real, tangible, assets. Things we endeavor as boosters to improve upon in support of the program. As a businessman I see these things for what they are, tools to help our staff become more successful when recruiting.

Now, UGA is going to be spending A LOT of money for Kirby ... it's already started with their new academic enrichment facility opening-up recently. But they've got a ways to go to catch-up to where we are now ... and I'm sure they will.

ETA: Had two big Michigan clients down here for the Florida game last year. They are big Michigan boosters, two brothers whose company has donated millions to Michigan over the years and even they admitted our facilities and ammenities are nicer than any they have ever seen in the B1G including theirs.

So UGA fans can overlook us all they want, that's fine ... quite frankly I'm glad they do, but we're still a member of the $140 million club and we're spending the money and we're going to use it to upgrade this football program with talent. It is inevitable. We've always had the fans. Now we have the money. Next comes the big time program and it is coming, nothing can stop it now. We've been patient and it is going to start paying-off soon.

Rooster may be a homer, but he has more connections to movers and shakers in multiple SEC programs than 99% of people on this site. The Gamecock fans here knew about Rakym Felder's dismissal before it hit the internet and papers due to Rooster's confirmation of a few facts.

If all of that is true, then spurrier also owned richt off the field. So glad we upgraded our head coach.

All the warehouses are long gone ... it's all luxury game day condos and Cockabooses and brick paver plazas and palm trees and maples and oaks and rought iron fences these days ...

... and looking west, the farmer's market is gone. Now it's more game day parking and tailgating area that leads to our new Steve and Jerri SPURrier indoor practice facility.

The new football ops building will be finished in six months ...

Our state of the art luxury athletic dorm 650 Lincoln ...

Then there is our academic enrichment center we call The Dodie ... rated one of the finest state of the art facilities of its kind in the country.

The inside of all these places are luxury palaces.

Now, let's see UGA's.

it's true. the Mighty Sound of the Southeast even has a better band hall than their Redcoats.

Georgia will catch us soon when their football ops center opens, but USC was ahead of UGa in the construction of Academic enrichment centers, Athletic dorms and indoor practice facility. the improvements in/around Williams-Brice the past 5 years has also left Sanford a little behind.

but as Rooster indicated, UGa will pull even/ahead in some areas as nobody in the conference ever stands pat - except Florida.

I still contend that Greg McGariry is a cocksucking piece of shite that will just continue to toot his horn about an ever-growing cash reserve that he’s sitting atop, leaving UGA perpetually in the bottom half of the conference as far as facilities are concerned. Once that motherfricker goes and we get a serious AD, the sky is limit; until then we’ll continue to be 5-10 years behind everyone else. frick you, Greg.

Ask Jeremy Pruitt. He said as much.

And it is all true.

SPURrier made it his mission to get our facilities upgrade tremendously while he was here. Hell, he contributed to the projects financially even.

So yes, he definitely beat Richt, or your AD, in that department. The proof is very tangible.

UGA is still going to out-recruit us ... that's just a baked-in advantage you have in Georgia. But Boom is using our facilities and commitment to upgrade our talent and it'll really start to show with a Top 10 class next year and solid classes for awhile.

We're not going to out-recruit UGA though.

What we have to do is out-recruit Clemson. And that is coming sooner than most realize.

I haven't been to USC since 2013 (for the MSU football game). I suppose I don't remember the athletic facilities, save for Williams-Brice which I thought was one of the better stadiums in the SEC. But your post shows some amazing facilities. I stand corrected.
