Of course you would want to keep a guy who is winning vs an unknown.
People were also pretty ambivalent about him after what he did in 2024.
That team had more talent than what he’s putting together at lsu and still lost 3 games including a pathetic loss to Kentucky. He lost to “terrible coach Brian Kelly” with all that talent too which is super ironic.
Also him leaving during a playoff run was a big part of the negative reaction. People who are neutral about Ole Miss (especially people who have actually played the game) have all said it was a shitty move.
I’m completely fine with Pete. He proved himself in the playoffs. And will probably have similar results as Kiffin especially with the grove collective. We have the #2 portal class and return the core of a playoff team. Kept the defensive staff that had the #2 defense in the country in 2024 and brought in an OC that took the 120th offense in the country and made it top 25 offense and runs the same system as Kiffin.
Ole Miss will probably beat LSU next season and this website will implode.

They said it was a shitty move because they went all in on what the governor said and everyone piled on saying that LSU would never get a good coach now. Then, LSU goes out and gets the hottest name out there and everyone was fricking pissed because they were wrong. There wasn't any sort of negativity about the whole situation until it was announced that he was going to LSU. All of a sudden he's not a good coach. It was a shitty thing to do. Why wasn't any of that said beforehand? Where was the outrage then? That goes for the media and this board and I love every fricking second of it.
Same exact thing happened with Demond Williams. The board had a nuclear meltdown and now the repsonses are "everyone is doing it."
ETA: Also with Sam Leavitt. Thread after thread about how he wasn't going to go to LSU. Not ONE PERSON said anything about him not being any good. As soon as he announces LSU, all of a sudden he's not good either.

Really no way of knowing anything at this point. Ole Miss could collapse next season, LSU could be great.
I personally expect LSU to be something like 8-4 just based on the schedule.
