Pretty off-the-wall and historic to me.

The University of Mississippi temporarily shut down after the fall of 1861 as nearly the entire student body (135 men) enlisted. They formed A company, 11th MS and were known as the University Greys.

Only four students reported for classes in fall 1861.
quote:

The Greys, as Company A of the 11th Mississippi and the Army of Northern Virginia, served in many of the most famous and bloody battles of the war. The most famous engagement of the University Greys was at Pickett’s Charge during the Battle of Gettysburg, when the Confederates made a desperate frontal assault on the Union entrenchments atop Cemetery Ridge. The Greys penetrated further into the Union position than any other unit, but at the terrible cost of sustaining 100% casualties—every soldier was either killed or wounded.

LSU and Ole Miss played in a rainstorm in 1985. Ole Miss wore blue jerseys in the first half and switched to red jerseys in the second half. Rebels scored 0 points in the first half, and 0 in the second half.

Final Score: LSU 14, Ole Miss 0

I always thought that Sherman being the first Chancellor at LSU was interesting historically.

The bastard resigned two years into his presidency and burned half the South down.

Auburn didn't really become "Auburn" until the 20th century was over halfway gone.

Everyone called them Auburn, but they were officially "Bama Tech" until 1960.
