If he struggles, he'll be replaced. But damn, he was only a redshirt freshman with limited snaps, until starts against Georgia State and Auburn when Barrett Jones was injured.

Takes a long time to build up a good reputation...only a few moments to tear it down.

Obviously he could've improved. I hope to god he has...especially if he's the starter.

I'm hoping Jones is able to stay at guard. Let the LT take his lumps and hopefully improve.

I think I remember Saban once commenting on a mistake he made. Shuffling the OL instead of just replacing the one position.

I hope so. Unfortunately Chris Capps comes to mind.

"...and we just have a different bunch of excuses if we lose.”

He'd already been there over a year. He should know the blocking schemes. What really strikes me is how he was just standing around while Fairley was still scrambling on the ground and was able to come up with the fumble despite Steen being between him and the ball.

You can't possibly be comparing the depth of the 2005-06 offensive line to the current depth. Not to mention the lack of actualy coaching from Bob "Bucket Step" Connelly.

Could have been after the suspensions in his first year. Can't remember for sure, but I agree 100% with the idea.

I just remember having to watch Capps play like dogshit just about every game. And each week he was still the starter.

Steen played at Lee Academy out of Clarksdale, not Pillow.

He sure gets a lot of blame from you guys when it was actually much more Mike"got you on probation and lost a lot of scholarships" Dubose and Mike"we have a weight room?" Shula that should catch most of the blame. FTR Jeff Grimes is a believer in the bucket step and our OL's haven't exactly been bad.

Go take a look at his "work" at UCLA after he left Alabama. Or his "offense" at UTEP currently.

Would you not agree that the loss of scholarships and Shula's all around lack of discipline(in this case the weight room) were much more to blame than BC? I'm not saying Bucket Bob is a great coach or even a good coach but you have to admit he wasn't under the best of circumstances.

Shula should have never kept him. A pro-style offense, with offensive assistants hired under Mike Price just didn't mesh. That being said, Connelly obviously isn't that great of a coach.

And I have to admit that it's entertaining to see an Auburn fan use "loss of scholarships" and "Alabama" in the same statement, to make an argument.
