first off nice sig image....
second yeah most proven I gotta go with Richardson and Latt. Niles Davis will push them for this come end of next year.
on a personal note I hope Ware continues to perform. With the current amount of action to go on limited you can't put him at the top yet... but watch out....

Arkansas wasn't pass happy the just had a good passing game. 3 to 4 quality wrs and an NFL Qb.
Petrino knows you have to run the ball to win.
Kniles is good and I don't think anyone is trying to down play is accomplishments or talent. He is just not the caliber or T-rich or Latty.
He benefited from Childs, Adams, Hamilton, Wright, and Mallet. Also Petrino is the best play caller in the league.

Having a strong passing game =/= pass happy.

It's a team effort, I could certainly make a frivolous argument how Richardson benefited from Ingram and Julio while Latti benefited from having Jeffery as a teammate just as much as Davis did from his teammates. It's a paper thin statement that could be used for anyone who ever put on the pads...

Air Raid offenses seldom, if ever, run. A true Air Raid is going to be one with at least 70% of its plays being passing plays.
But if you want to be a dick about this, then I refer to SMU's Zach Line who rushed for just under 1,500 yards this year while playing in an Air Raid-esque offense. The year before, Shawnbrey McNeal had just under 1,200 yards in an even more pass-happy offense.

Small sample size and competition quality is all I have say to that. If you want to say Knile Davis is a product of a strong passing game, that's fine, but that opens the door for me to say the same thing about Lattimore...

And what strong passing game is Lattimore a product of? Our offensive line is average at the best of times, Garcia is widely inconsistent, and we really don't have many proven, reliable threats outside of Alshon.
To say the performance of our passing game is on the same levels of Arkansas is asinine at best. Sure we have the best receiver in the nation, but one elite receiver isn't going to allow a run of the mill back to gain over a thousand yards easily.

Knile easily was the best RB in the SEC this year. Considering he led all RB's in rushing despite not starting until the 7th game of the season is pretty damn impressive. He only got double digit carries in 9 of the 13 games this season and still finished with over 1,300 yards. If he had received as many carries as Lattimore at his YPC average he would have had more than 1,600 yards on the season and easily would have been in the talk for the Heisman. Arkansas may not have blown a 4th quarter lead against Alabama if Knile had been the #1 RB in that game but unfortunately he wasn't 100% yet. He was probably also the only RB in the country to rush for over 130 yards against two top 5 defenses in LSU and Ohio State. He rushed for over 100 yards in 6 of the 7 games he started. Marcus Lattimore only rushed for over 100 yards 4 times on the season and was the primary RB in 13 out of 14 Gamecocks games.

Lattimore missed basically 2 and a half games this year ftw. Lattimore also had more touchdowns and easily more yards receiving.

To the same assumption you credit Knile Davis' success to the passing game, Ican also assume the active leader in most QB categories in the SEC did the same for Lattimore. Maybe LT was only good because of Lorenzo Neal? Maybe Jerry Rice was only good because of 2 HOF QBs? Maybe Tom Brady is only good because he's paired with Belichick? Maybe, maybe, maybe...

Lattimore had 45 more carries than Davis. Of course he had more TD's. Don't you think if Knile had actually gotten to play against ULM, Tennessee Tech and Georgia that he would have had quite a few more TD's. Also we don't throw to our RB's much. Petrino uses the RB as a blocker in most passing situations. Not Knile's fault.

Davis also ran behind a far better offensive line than Lattimore did and had more skill position players to take the heat off of him. Davis was getting free on the edges with tosses/sweeps/stretches/offtackles while Lattimore was running right up the middle getting hit at or behind the line and still chugging forward to get 3/4/5/6 yard gains.

Garcia is the leader by default. He'll basically be the only guy starting next year that started in 2009 as well.
