Players sit out bowl games? Haven't seen a Bama player do it.

Yes, the bowl world of 50 years ago is ending. The decision to play could cost 10s of millions of dollars - that was not the case 50 years ago. Time you realize college football is now a business and 50 years ago it was played mostly for pride, so going to a lesser bowl still meant something - win and get ranked higher. Now the risk of injury outweighs pride, but not the chance of a championship.

Football has ALWAYS been a business. Even if you go back to Knute Rockne's teams where you had players freelancing for city teams on the sly.

The only change is that now a handful of players are risk averse which isn't exactly a great mentality to have for a sport that involves risk.

Wrong the playoff teams don't have players sitting out. As long as marquee games matter...wont happen.

You go to an eight game slate and then folks bellyache about there should be more, 12 games ditto...it dilutes the product. Just be that 1-4 th team the committee appoints.
