It's not the cheating that got his dumb arse fired, it was the lying about it for months and putting the girl on the fricking payroll. That's a major violation brotha.
I don't remember any mention of possible NCAA violiation.
Arkansas was rightfully concerned about a boatload of lawsuits from the people passed over for the job that Jessica got hired for.

It wasn't even an NCAA problem he was fired for. It was completely internal and had zero effect on the football program until his firing. He screwed up in his personal life and tried to get away with it. It happens.
The lie did as much harm as the actual cheating.

Well, one could actually carry legal issues if the school or someone passed over for the job really wanted to start some shite.

If someone wanted to cause some shite they could go down the state employee nepotism road.

I disagree with the bolded part. The legal limits are fairly arbitrary things which vary from location to location and they are adjusted when someone wants to claim they are tough on drunk drivers. If you look at different states around the country there is a lot of variability from state to state
I would be more inclined to regard Pinkel as a scumbag if he had a second incident of being pulled over but his one time incident with a relatively low BAC (not something higher like a .15 etc) looks like a one time thing which is out of character for him. I have at least mixed feelings on defending anyone who gets pulled over for an elevated BAC though. I know a couple people who died to drunk drivers (when the drivers were roaring drunk).
And none of this was really on the topic of the thread anyway. Petrino has been a pretty scummy character for his entire football life as best I can tell - it will be interesting to see how successful he is at rehabilitating his image in the media after a pretty disastrous six months.
Not really. As I said before, there are established and well-documented effects that alcohol exhibits on the human body depending on the BAC.
LINK
As far as I know, Pinkel's BAC was never released (I could be wrong but google isn't showing me anything). However, I think we can both agree that he was at or over the legal limit for the state of Missouri or else he most likely would have challenged the arrest.
Missouri's legal BAC limit is .08% which, as you can clearly see in the above link, represents reasoning, depth perception, peripheral vision, and glare recovery impairment. Don't you think all of those have an effect on how well someone can drive, especially at night?
I know the topic of this thread was derailed, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to the sheer hypocrisy of a Missouri fan critiquing our previous coach while stating that their drunk-driving a-hole of a coach is a "good guy". I'd rather my football coach bang a hundred hot blondes before I would approve of them getting behind the vehicle of a car under the influence and endanger other's lives, especially in an area with a lot of kids like a college town.
Puh-lease

You think in today's media world, Switzer wouldn't have a very tough time keeping his job?
This. In the twitter age we are in now Switzer would have been eviscerates by the media. No way he would have kept his job. Its a completely different ballgame now in today's extremely litigious society.

No, you're completely ignoring the fact that he gave this girl a $55K per year job on the state payroll.

It wouldn't be a slap to me or anyone else. But it would be a very difficult public relations (is that what's it's called, your fellow poster may need to explain this to me) move that could work against the university. I would think professors and the academic world in the state would think the priorities of the university were misplaced.
I think it's still a possibility, but I think it would be telling about what the university thinks is truly important.

People are fallible and we all hope this becomes the classic tale of redemption.
To that end, I would expect that none of the fellow coaches that compete with Bobby Petrino for recruits going forward would ever try to cast doubt on he being the man of integrity that Mommy and Daddy should trust their 2 to 5 star son with.

Me personally, i don't care who he's porking. When i found out he hired her i knew he was gone. Cant do that on any stage. I doubt he'll be back here. That boat has already sailed. Arkansas is the only loser here. He will find another job. Everyone was waiting for him to screw the pooch but who would have thought he was literally screwing the pooch. Hopefully we can make a great hire who can recruit there arse off.
