Last week a source claimed there was a 7 year extension on the table with a $6 million mutual buyout (suggested by Petrino to demonstrate his commitment).
Must be the same deal.
Anybody in NWA needs to watch the KNWA 10 o'clock news coming up in 4 minutes.

Just in time for the big recruiting weekend.

I'll be watching. Unlike you, I'm in bed. Doubt I make it through all of the news.

I hear you TigerPerry, but the fact is the program is one of the fastest rising in the country and Petrino is leading the ship. Key part of what I said was "in the making" I'm aware we are not there yet- but damn it, we are on our way!

Lead story on KNWA. Said it happened within the last 20 minutes.
Gotta love Petrino. No hoopla.

win a SEC title first, then we'll talk.
This is the most optimistic I've been since Ken Hatfield was the head coach.

I hear you, and agree with you. Step 1 was to get the hogs into a BCS game. Check. Now the next step is win the SEC. Yall have the right guy in Fayetteville to lead yall there.

i think you guys will win an SEC title with Petrino.. but the bar is set a little higher for SEC teams right now.. looking at 5 straight national titles..

Defeating LSU apparently

I haven't had a drink in four weeks. I may have to break one open at this news.
I never thought he would really leave, but its a relief nonetheless. If he won't raise his skirt for Florida, and the new contract has the big buyout, we've got him for as long as we want him.
And that is TITS.

The SEC has increased the standards. Watching it change and improve from 1992 has been interesting, to say the least.

*Team improving year over year with Petrino
*First BCS bowl game for the program
*Chance to win 11 games in a season for the first time since Holtz did it in '77
*Long term commitment from the coach
I don't know how many other rising programs have their coaches committed for the long-haul (e.g. Petersen rumored to UF, Harbaugh looking at UM or NFL)
I don't necessarily think the statement is true (seems more like hyperbole bc he's happy to see Petrino returning), but if you want the argument, there it is; Petrino has made some big strides in 3 years.

He's what, 48 years old or so? With this extension, this could very well be his last job as a HC.
