Ole Miss expectations for a 4 or 5 win season next year and he still has a JOB.
We will not let Houston Nutt walk with two losing seasons like you did.

Petrino will be a legend if he matches what Houston did at Arkansas.

I just love how Bama fans have anointed themselves a top the league like they belong there and have always been there???
I willmy arse off if Texas kicks your butt........
Well, considering Alabama has won at least one conference title in every decade. Has a winning series record against every SEC school. Has more program wins than any other SEC school. Leads the nation in bowl appearances, ten win seasons, and can tie USC for most bowl wins. As well as being fifth all time in the country in wins, I think Alabama has a pretty good amount to be proud of. So, I guess we have "always been there". We had a rough decade, but still had four ten wins seasons. Which were more than most of the SEC (save LSU, Florida, and Georgia) combined.
Next season we return most of the offense, and have insane amounts of talent and depth. The incoming recruiting class may be the third consecutive top ranked class. We have, what many consider, the best head coach in the business, and one of the top staffs (development and recruiting). So, I guess we should expect to win the West again considering all things.
What happens with Texas is irrelevant as to where Alabama falls in discussions of the West next year. We'll be just as hungry as ever to defend the Wester division again.

Bama will be a bitch and no one's bitch as long as Saban is there and probably for a few years after he leaves.

Its a matter of perceptions, and short memories.
Some of you guys are thinking: "They've got Mallett and ought to be more productive". Funny, but some of the same were talking about how Mallett wouldn't do shite this year in the SEC.
From where I am, Petrino is building a program.
He's pretty much building his team from scratch. Nutt had decent talent in 2006-07, but never won shite. Those were probably his most talented teams, and those years came on the heels of 5-6 and 4-7.
If Petrino doesn't improve his record next year, I'll be concerned. Everything points to more improvement next year. Constant progress is all I'm interested right now, and its what Petrino has brought us so far.

How is it a rebuilding year, when you're coming off a 5-7 campaign? Petrino is still "building".

Arkansas could win the SEC title and you still wouldn't be as happy as Nutt was to get out yall's looney bin of a program...

Shh...
Arkansas is an elite program.

financially we are a LOT BIGGER program -- it does not show in the win loss column yet but we are all hoping it will soon enough.....
Posted on 1/3/10 at 12:08 am to HawgAlude
It won't.
You. Are. Arkansas.
You. Are. Arkansas.

and you are Ole Miss.... so who wins this debate? We no longer have felons on our teams and the baboon is where he belongs. All is good with the world....
Posted on 1/3/10 at 12:40 am to HawgAlude
The baboon is frickin' piggy in the arse in every aspect. Wins, recruiting, etc

ya think?? How do you see the next two seasons working out and how do you feel about the flirtation with Kansas. Is that ok? I mean he wanted to leave Ole Miss for Kansas... How freaking funny is that?
Posted on 1/3/10 at 12:44 am to HawgAlude
He didn't want to leave. He just wanted a raise. Can't fault the man for that. He's a damn good coach
Posted on 1/3/10 at 1:21 am to sorantable
I believe he was quoted in newspapers as saying that it would be easier to win a National Championship at Kansas than Ole Miss???? Not necessarily what I want my head coach to say.
