no damn way i'd have guessed that. it was just me hoping that i DON"T have a reason to freak out this year.

i got nothing but hate AND respect for your program. it's why i like to say "cute" to y'all. i want to do my part in removing all hope in your current status ;)

Being a younger Vols fan, I group up watching UT beat Alabama and getting terrorized by Florida. There is a good portion of younger Vols who say Florida is a bigger rival than Bama, and it may have been hard to argue against that. I always took the Bama game for granted. However, seeing Bama climb to the top has been far more sickening than anything Florida has done. I hate Alabama, a lot, but it's still in a good football kind of way. I'm happy to call Bama UT's biggest rival.

Yeah, Pete Carroll only won one BCS championship and Kiffin is going to start winning them left and right?

He finished with a better recruiting class than Carrol would have and it only took him a couple of weeks.

Because it is. Florida is Johnny Come Lately on that front.

I agree. I'm only 20 but growing up, UF always seemed like our biggest rival.

Yeah and Les Miles has had some pretty darned good recruiting classes at LSU- and he's not winning the BCS left and right!

That's compeletly understandable. For us that are a little longer in the tooth, it has always been and always be Alabama. That's why the 3rd Saturday in October is so special.

No, Bama is our biggest rival and it's not even close.

To those talking about UT fans supporting Kiffin...seriously, what would you have done. Florida fans supported Spurrier's trash talking, obnoxious antics for all those years. So did most of us UT fans. Some of it was in fun and some of it was him being a turd...so what? He was our coach and you dolts act like we should have run him out of town on a rail.

I'm going to support Dooley too. I knew neither had a ton to work with last year or the next couple. Kiffin was a turd but he as our turd....til he pooped on us. Now we have a shiny new one. You seen the Blind Side? How many coaches are still there that were in the movie?

That's why I never could understand the last two years how so many Tenn fans could be pulling for Bama over UF in the SECCG. Florida has only been a rival since going to divisions. Bama has been there forever.

To me the difference was that Spurrier didn't start running his mouth until after he was established down there and had a record to back it up. The can't spell Citrus without UT, the joke about AU's library buring with all the books yet to be colored. It was funny, as well as he beat both teams pretty handily and was for a logn time the benchmark in the league. Kiffin came in and took shots at anyone and everyone. Had he come in and won for a couple of years and then started being cocky, I think the other schools would have been less harsh on him.

It was the worst of times for a Tennessee fan. I honestly could have cared less who won. I figured the winner was going to whip whoever in the BCS game.

I agree with you to a point. My dad being a long time coach, albiet on the high school level, always stressed the importance of class. In these cases, I don't think either acted with much of it....winning records or not.

That said, I would have probably supported Spurrier were I been a gator or gamecock fan...just not his antics.

So you're saying the coach has to pretend to be someone he's not until he wins. Kiffin is free to say whatever he wants. He wasn't as witty as Spurrier, but it was amusing as it was, simply because it was obvious that Meyer hated it. If Dooley came in and started running his mouth, it honestly wouldn't bother me.

Of course he is/was. 1st Amendment is a wonderful thing. It also means that the rest of us are free to say what we think about him for doing it.

Not saying that, at least I don't think I am. What I am saying is don't get cocky and run your mouth until you have something to back it up. Win a few SEC titles and consistently beat the big boys, run your mouth as much as you want. But to come in running it - you are going to have the whole world against you, and they will rub it in your face when you don't/can't back it up.

I'm with everyone else. I have Faith Dooley will form the Vols back to contenders but not in the next Two years. Saban was only 7-6 his first year with us.

I hate the Vols but I also will give consideration to the current mess your in.

this, and Kiffin was usually wrong about the rules he was claiming others were breaking
