If getting upwards of $100,000 education(for a better future) and a chance to hone their skills to make millions if talented enough, isn't enough... then let them get into the work force like most of their h.s. classmates have to do.
How much money did JJ bring to the UA?

Student athletes are fairly compensated. To believe they aren't, is naive.
What is "fair" compensation? How much does LSU bring in PER YEAR from football revenue?

I just think, you could take 10% of the $s generated from these sales and disperse them to all athletes.
So Texas gets $1.6M to spend on stipends and Okie State gets $171k?

Doesn't matter. He received the training to make the millions he's making now. Furthermore, he received a chance at education, that many other people can't get, based on physical skill. He and all other athletes are well compensated. If they think they aren't, then they're free to enter the free market and forego college.

Tuition, books, fees, meals, room and board. Everything needed to sustain, that most others have to pay for.

Just because something has value doesn't mean it holds that value for that person. If it did, then this wouldn't even be a discussion.
What if I paid you in marbles? I really like marbles... you must like them too. Please take my marbles and come play for me and don't complain.
Yes, our culture has designated that a free education is the perfect payment that everyone should value, but not everyone does.

How much does the Athletic Department spend on tuition and team travel?

Room and Board, Access to outstanding facilities and resources most only dream of, tuition, books, tutors, plus other amenities. All for attending class, and playing a sport they love. Sounds good to me.

And, guys, I hate to say it, but we have to look at the reality of the situation. Let's look at the end result. Probably, the overwhelming majority of these kids are of minority status, come from sub-middle income families, RARELY GRADUATE, and are left without any skills that can benefit them in the real world (because the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of them do not make it to the NFL).
Whether you agree with the principals of either side, the point is the RESULT of the current situation is UNACCEPTABLE.

So because they dont take advantage of what is offered, they need to get paid? nah.

College football is a billion dollar business

Every person makes a decision to use or not use the educational opportunities before them. They are given ALOT more than their friends, or the average joe gets, simply because they can tackle.
This arguing that they create revenue, that they are minorities, etc etc .. is nothing but a continuation of the victim thought process that society has become. Stop with the crap. They are earning their room, board, meals, education, by playing a freaking game.

Don't think so. Could be wrong. My guess is that because men's sports are typically larger revenue drivers that this is a no-go.
I don't see why the woman's volleyball player should receive equal compensation to the football player. The revenue from football and basketball usually fund non-revenue sports like volleyball and yet the players should receive no return for basically carrying the entire athletic departments?
We may end-up with 16 team cross country conferences and its not to enhance the learning experience but to garner TV sets for ad revenue so I wish people would stop pretending like anyone actually gives a freak about higher education in college athletics

That's not a real argument. Let's say that the college players get $5000/year stipend (completely unworkable, btw). How does that change anything in your scenario? It changes nothing. The athlete made $20k, spent $20k, and has now left school with no degree and is no better off than in the other scenario.

I'm going to give you $200,000 spread over 4 years and in return you are going to make me a few million. Let's call it even.

Fair market equilibrium without question, and without doubt, results in them being paid.
Anything short of that is rigging. It's that simple.
Saying they get more than their peers is vastly over simplifying and doesn't even come close to placing a relative value on the money they provide the school.

Paid? No. But what they get should absolutely cover the full cost of attendance. The scholarship I got to go to Law School @ LSU covered more than what Patrick Peterson got. That's just wrong.
