Your one time at band camp didn't go so well, huh?

Besides, give up the Band and you'll be stuck with Lee Greenwood singing God Bless the USA at half time (or whatever hokey country song is popular) or Chubby Checker asking you to do the twist. Older UT fans will know what I'm talking about with Greenwood. There was a time he fricking lived at Neyland.
You guys pulled the Greenwood Stunt at the Cotton Bowl at the end of the 89 season. I was in the Razorback Band and we had no clue Lee was about to walk out. Both band rehearsed together the day before and we thought the Tennessee Band was just going for cheap patriotic applause (common trick for bands). At the game, they rolled out Greenwood to everyone's surprise and he did his thing. The Arkansas fans shite themselves and were nearly in tears. Made our halftime show look really silly (it was silly). As far as I am concerned, Greenwood single-handily caused Arkansas to lose that game.

This thread is disturbing. Go watch the NFL if you don't like the marching band.

Highly disagree. The band and them basically leading the cheers for the crowd is one of my favorite college football traditions. I'm actually more annoyed at the rise in piped-in music so that the band plays less. I am also disappointed when the traveling team cannot bring their band because the two opposing bands sort of battling it out with each other for cheers is kinda cool, IMO.
If I want to hear piped-in music, I would attend an NFL game or, better yet, just stay at home and play my own damn music while watching football on the TV.
Also, no, I was never in a band, so there is no band bias on my part. I am 30 years old, so I don't necessarily consider myself one of the old coots stuck in the past, either.

BTW, this seems like a timely link. Also note no band scholarships.
