I think they need to go to a 9 game schedule. The only way to ensure someone like A&M gets one permanent opponent, one traditional hard opponent, one easy opponent.
USC, Florida, Kentucky one year.
USC, Georgia, Vanderbilt the next.
USC, Tennessee, Mizzou the next.
Alabama would play;
UT, USC, Kentucky
UT, Georgia, Vandy
UT, Florida, Mizzou.
So long as you never have to play more than two of the three Big Six teams in the opposite division in the same year, I'm totally down with the 9 game schedule. Gets us back to 3 cross division games.

Meaning don't put all the good games on one weekend and the next have ok matchups. This could interfare with games like TSIO, WLOCP, Aub-GA game and other rival games having to be moved around.
This is blatantly incorrect

just do temporary bridge schedules EVERY year. that way bama never has to play anyone from the east.

I'm not a big fan of the idea to increase the SEC schedule to 9 games. Mostly because it will lead to even further schedule inequalities with different teams getting different numbers of home/road games.
As counter intuitive as it probably is to many - expanding to 16 teams with 4 team pods would make the scheduling issues a lot easier to manage while also growing the pie further. Functionally each team would have 4 permanent opponents (3 within your division and 1 out of division) and rotate 4 teams among the remaining 11 teams. Everyone would rotate completely through that schedule within 6 years (play every single rotating team at least once at home and once away).

One way to deal with the 9 game schedule issue of uneven home and away games is to give everyone a neutral site conference game, although logistically that is probably impossible

Can you imagine ESPN making Saban come up to Charlotte to do something.
I don't get the Charlotte part. I understand that ESPNU is produced in Charlotte, but it's not that big a deal to set up new studios in Atlanta that will be more central to the schools and he high school recruits. I'm sure Slive will push back hard on this. Also, letting ESPN put the SEC Network in Charlotte will let them slide in the ACC at some point after the SEC paves the road.

Why would it be impossible?
