I’d have to give Florida the edge in softball right now.

National Title leaders softbnall:
Texas A&M 3 (1982, 1983, and 1987)
Florida 2 (2014 and 2015)
Alabama 1 (2012)

CWS Appearances:
Texas A&M 11 (last 2008)
Alabama 11 (last 2016)
South Carolina 11 (last 1997)
Florida 8 (last 2017)
Tennessee 7 (last 2015)
LSU 5 (last 2016)
Georgia 3 (last 2016)
Auburn 2 (last 2016)
Kentucky 1 (2014)

All time I guess you have to give the nod to A&M, but recently yeah probably has to be Florida

Historically the west coast has dominated softball, although the SEC has of late.

Give Aggie the nod? None of those were won in SEC play.

I like threads like these because they give a bit of spotlight to some underappreciated sports.

I'm not sure who the king (queen?) of the hill in SEC softball would be, though. I think Bama has ten or so WCWS appearances, but I don't really follow softball enough to know.

Aggies need at least several more decades before they can legitimately claim a damn thing in this conference.

We are still in the courting phase aTm.

florida would get womens soccer, being the only SEC school to win a title. Could make an argument for eithe UF or A&M in softball

I enjoy watching softball. I carry my daughters to watch as much as I can. Alabama has definitely had some great teams but Florida and their pitching has been our kryptonite as of late. They both have been regulars in the WCWS.

I love baseball. Truth be told I love and care about college baseball more than I do football. I played baseball my whole life and it will always be my #1. With that said, I just can't watch womens softball. I can respect their talent but I can't deal with the slap hitting and chanting throughout the entire game. Although if they all looked like Jennie Finch, I might be persuaded to watch more

Same for me with gymnastics. I think a lot of people underestimate the athleticism that goes into gymnastics, really.

That, and it's actually capable of creating storylines. Suzanne Yoculan and Sarah Patterson created sort of a feedback loop which effectively pushed the Georgia and Alabama programs to some pretty dizzying heights.
