OU entering the SEC

I posted the below paragraphs in another thread, but thought it made for a good thread of it's own and, seeing as I hadn't started one yet, voila voila. By the way, I can't say enough about how much I'm looking forward to the Sooners being a part of the SEC. The below is a summary of how I feel about where we are joining.
Over the last 15-20 years we've seen the SEC rise above the rest of the college football world. And it's no surprise given the SEC sits in the hotbed of college football recruiting.
As stated earlier, the history of Oklahoma football speaks for itself. But in recent memory? Yes, Oklahoma has slipped behind the elite of the SEC for recruits and the rest follows in terms of national championships.
So how do I feel about joining the SEC? I think OU will see an uptick in recruiting, especially on defense, like what Stoops was bringing in during the early 2000's, or like Switzer before him. I don't want to come into the SEC beating my chest like I don't understand what we're letting ourselves in for. It's going to be a much tougher league and we're not going to dominate it like the Big 12. But I do think it's possible that we give ourselves a better chance at national titles. We can certainly be amongst the likes of LSU, Auburn, and Florida in terms of success during the timeline mentioned above.
And Alex Grinch has improved the defense more than many might realize even just in two years. Do we still need to take another step up? Yes, yes we do. But Oklahoma football is one of the top 5 most successful programs in the history of college football and we'll be coming in hot with Lincoln Riley. Many posters are right to say it won't be like the Big 12, but for many programs in the SEC, we'll be closer to playing Alabama than most others.

"the history" changed drastically when OU started playing SEC teams to win the MNC.....

TBH, I think Oklahoma is going to make the easier transition. OU has been on the field with Bama, LSU and UGA when it counted. Although they lost, it surely showed them where they need to improve.

OU and Texas have been discussed ad nauseum on this board. It doesn't need a million threads to say what almost all SEC fans are thinking
Y'all aren't as good as you think you are
You will end up being Mississippi State level
You are not an interesting cultural fit or gameday destination
Your new posters are absolutely terrible at message boards
As a rule to OU/Tx lurkers, if you think you have an "amazing thread idea", please read the preceding points and decide if your thread is still noteworthy
Thank you for not clogging up the board ahead of actual (ie SEC) football season

KC, thanks for the post and it's fun to read new viewpoints on things from posters whose teams are about to join the conference.
As you will learn, if you aren't already aware, pigs very often have yeast infections due to their environment. They are some bitchy, nauseating hogs.
I agree with your prediction of Alabama and Oklahoma being the great new game. EVERYONE will be watching it, rest assured.
You'll have hundreds and hundreds of new board friends if the Sooners humble Bama. It could happen. Oklahoma is a mercurial but way above average team and no one will overlook y'all.
Keep posting.

Damn already admitting defeat before they even join the conference.

You can ask, but it won't do any good

Right, that is expected. You could have found a better thread to flame out in. You are a chick aren't you?

Tell 'em not to ban me, bro. Go Georgia!! Georgia is putting it all together this year; it can and may happen. I hope it does because they deserve it.
