And anyone else in Dorian’s path. We wake up to another category 5 monster storm this morning. The Bahamas will be annihilated. I hope this bastard turns north into the open Atlantic soon. Too many Michael memories still too fresh.

For folks that haven’t been in a hurricane, it’s easy to understand but hard to relate.
In my college career, we had only two bad hurricanes.
20 years ago, hurricane cane Floyd changed eastern North Carolina for years if not decades.
Some houses on the Tar river had their second stories under 3 feet of water.
Hog farmers lost thousands of hogs in one night.
Thermal imaging of the tar river saw thousands of dead bodies in the river. ....rumors circulated out of control. Losers posted the pics online to suggest they authorities thought they were human.
Couches/trash are still 20 feet up in trees.
Classes are canceled for weeks after a hurricane.
Out of state kids have tk get home. But Greenville was an island at the time with no major roads out.
Again, it’s horrofic for the residents. It’s horrific for the parents of kids out in it.
The economy suffers greatly.
Then you get folks that speak about how their team was going to “finish what Katrina started” or try “wished that Floyd direct hit ncstate” with general cluelessness about that has or is getting ready th happen.
You just forgive and ignore the noise. And the folks that don’t really undrstand are a small minority.

This. Nearly one year post-Michael, you can still follow the path from the Gulf Coast to the Carolinas using only blue tarps on roofs for a guide. This area will NEVER be the same. The destruction is unimaginable. A Cat 5 is like the Tuscaloosa tornado...only the path is 25 miles wide at the center, then there’s the bands of destruction that lie further out from that which are a little less devastating as the radius increases until you get out about 50 miles from the center on either side. The entire infrastructure from electricity to water to sewer to roads and bridges is disrupted and unusable. You just can’t imagine it until you experience it.

Holy God, they just announced Dorian’s maximum sustained winds are up to 175mph with gusts over 200. This storm is reaching biblical proportions

Dude, I hope they got the hell out of there. They are predicting 15-20 foot storm surges to go with that wind. Prayers for sure. Man, I’m so tired of these global warming fueled superstorms.

This is the storm where folks are going to be on highest ground for a long time.

Sorry my joke offended some itt. My thoughts are with people in the way of this storm.
Also, for those that don't know, I'm a veteran and served in harm's way for the protection of others. I'm a huge smartass, but a pretty nice guy.
Sry again, it was a joke.

Surprised all these people that didn't take it as one aren't in church right now, off their phones, praying for them. I mean talk about some holy moly's.

This.
I've had to drive back and fourth from Birmingham to Tallahassee 3 or 4 times since Michael, and it really is hard to wrap the mind around the damage. It is vast, incredible, and catastrophic.

Guess I've never been in a hurricane, or tornado? I have, stop the pity party, I apologized. So many pointing at me when they don't know what I've been through.
Again, prayers to those in the way. Especially Camp Lejeune - a place that got hit last year - that is near and dear to me.

Interesting.
I’d say quit while you’re ahead. But you’re not ahead.

And they’re saying will slow down as it goes over Bahamas.
If anyone is interested, there is a guy on YouTube that does tropical weather updates and he is very good at explaining things and not just regurgitating the same things that most weather people are saying.
This is the update from last night:
Tropical Tidbits
