Smh bringing up the Stanford game. That sucked.

We played a lot better before the Sewell injury. That’s why the expectations are so high.
Oregon plays in a weaker conference so they’re expected to do better.
I watched them in the Bowl Game. Against a below average Michigan St team they looked anemic. I guess it is that time of year when "Hope springs eternal".

We went 9-4 last year. We very well could end up the same due to the schedule. However, I am not putting too much stock in a bowl game.

The last 7 games they go 4-3 with a 7-6 victory over a 7-6 Michigan St. In the process they give up 34, 44, 21, 32, 29 and 15 points to teams that were not considered elite. Maybe I'm missing something.

I understand what you’re saying. This team is better.

That’s a lot of Seniors on that team.

Well to start with, this is our second Pac12 team in a row where we are hearing this game makes or breaks the Pac12 conference chance at a playoff spot. Which is dumb. Its not like Auburn is picked to be a top SEC teams. Hell we are ranked 5th right now. And that may be too high.
Second, you guys have some tough shoes to fill. Washington brought a mean pre-game last year. Between a Scientologist coach and the Hardcore Husky website, it kept us busy for months and made the preseason go much faster. So far, you failed on that.
We are arrogant here and believe there is no way a weak puny Oregon team could be a SEC powerhouse. Trick plays and what not.
I worry about a few things with this game.
1 - Quarterback - Bo Nix is shiny new. Right off the farm. Kid has zero experience and taking on this huge task, in Jerry World, will cause him to make some rookie mistakes. I believe the offense will be very vanilla. Mostly runs with a few deep shots. Some intermediate passes put in there. I dont think Gus will put NIx in a position to totally fail.
2 - OL - It has been beat to death. Our worst group last year and we have the same guys. Hopefully they have meshed and are ready to protect the young kid
3 - WR - We lost almost all of our WR production from last year. Seth Williams is coming back but the rest will be new, other than Stove who has seen limited play
4 - LB - All brand new and one who plays a lot will be a true freshman. Im worried about screen passes over our DL and these guys getting out of position
I expect this game to be very close and right now, I feel like Oregon is a 4-5 point favorite. We have a lot to figure out on offense in a short time. I expect Oregon to pressure NIx from play one.

Auburn has a flashy, NFL-ready Dline, but other than that and SEC affiliation, I can’t see why they’re favored in this game.
Valued NFL QB vs. True Frosh in a season opener? Oregon lines would have to be complete dogshit to pick AU in this one. Spoiler: Oregon’s trenches are better than your top sun belt teams.
I’m picking that Oregon humbles Gus right off the bus. AU will play the role of inconsistent spoiler the rest of the season.

Gus’s offense typically features the power run. If he had his way, the QB wouldn’t do much more than hand off, pitch, and throw deep.
Yep, he rode Tre Mason and Nick Marshall to the BCSCG in 2013 with that formula, if you add in Marshall's keepers. Mason was a hoss and Marshall was a wizard in that offense...

People forget about Gus's Offenses at Tulsa that led the Nation in total Offense. Gus likes the power running and to have the QB able to keep the ball, but he likes to pass the ball when he has a capable QB. That is why some are excited about Nix, this is the first time since Cam that he has a QB capable of doing both. Even with Cam it took him 4 games to figure out what he had.

I can't speak for anyone else, but Oregon has better looking cheerleaders than we do.

It was Tulsa and he has not shown the ability to run deep with a pass heavy offense.
It is so easy to see but people will not accept it. He cant run a pass happy offense and he needs to stick with a power run or read offense.

Nobody said pass happy. It is a balance Offense that takes advantage of the whole field. The reason you haven't seen it much is because he hasn't had a QB that can run it. Even with Cam, they (Chizik also) didn't trust him throwing a pick. Marshall wasn't a great passer, but you saw them open it up some in 14. Stidham was a great thrower, but they didn't want him to run. Every other QB lacked in both areas. They think they have that balance in Nix, which is why he beat out Gatewood.

There is nothing like HH for Oregon. That place is funny as hell.

He doesn’t get mentioned a lot. It’s like he’s a veteran and not a shiny new object.

One of the SEC fan bases needs to draft you for their team so you have an excuse to post more often.

Our OC is a dumbass and the weakest link on this team. The offense is super vanilla.
Zero faith in him making any schematic adjustments.
That's not fun.
Maybe he was dealing with some learning curve from the players. Year 2 is always much better.
(which is what I am hoping for out of Jimbo)

You're from Oregon City?
I knew a guy from Dallas, Oregon (I am from Dallas, Texas ). He was big into reggae.
I guess Oregon has a big reggae following? The Toyes (Smoke 2 Joints) from Grand Pass and whatnot? Maybe it's an East Oregon thing?
But, I second the motion that you pick a SEC team and become a regular.
