This is just a statistic to doctor to cover for what's really going on.

Just so I can follow along with the LSU fan hypothesis here...

LSU since 2009 has been called for 51 penalties for 386 yards in the Alabama game. 7.5 yards per penalty.

Alabama has been called for 17 penalties for 129 yards in this matchup. 7.5 yards per penalty.

Alabama has on average one of the lowest penalty rates called against their opponents for the season over the past decade, LSU has the third highest among Big 6 schools, but these metrics aren't reflective of LSU's play, and rather a concerted effort by SEC officials to penalize LSU more heavily in this matchup, but then makeup the calls in games that don't matter as much in order to massage out the numbers?
