I'm not sure how people don't have Oklahoma fatigue at this point. They have the same team, every year. They lose in the 1st round the same way, every year. This year's team is the exact same as those other teams except not as good on offense. Are people not bored of 1 of the 2 semi-final games being a 49-35 game that Oklahoma loses?

If Oklahoma and Utah are close resume wise (which they are) give Utah the shot.

To me, it should never be able what happened in years past. If Bama/OU/Clemson/whoever is a top 4 team each and every year then they should be in it each and every year. Take a look at what they did this year and make a determination. Who's got the best resume? Who passes the eye test?

Absolutely fine, but we're not making the playoffs unless the BXII and PAC 12 champs have 2 losses.

And that's fine.

And with resumes close, I'd be more likely to take the team that is hammering 7-5 teams than the one who is sneaking by 6-6 teams and plays a worse version of a style that has failed the last 4-5 years.

Agreed. I'm not saying OU is better or not. I was just asking your reasoning why its BS. I haven't done a deep dive, but I don't see a huge difference in Utah & OU.

It wouldn't be BS, but I think they are close enough that there is room for basically a take your pick situation.

Maybe, maybe not. A lot depends on our next game. I can see us moving to number 4 if we win and UGA loses. If not then that's fine too

Bookmark this: the committee will not “reward” LSU by putting them in the perilous position of being knocked off their perch by their maligned divisional/geographical rivals in a 1st-round rematch. ESPECIALLY considering the context and recent history.

That is what you’re seeing with LSU’s seeding at 2 making them more malleable — OP is spot on

Bama needs help to get in. LSU is a lock with a win over A&M and/or UGA. But no matter what happens, two SEC teams will not face off in a semifinal game.

If I were betting, I would put money on an all-SEC title game before an all-SEC semifinal.

I agree. Plus Oklahoma’s team this year is barely winning vs mediocre teams. Even though it should be about how the team is this year, which in that case Oklahoma doesn’t look that good.

It would. Like I said in another thread. I want Utah because my nephew plays on the team. So yeah it’s personal, but they have a physical good team. Would be cool as hell though. My brother and I just texted about all the scenarios this morning.

Nothing depends on your next game. Nothing.

Utah v Oregon
Baylor v OU

Those are the 2 games that decide if you make the playoffs or not. The sooner you come to accept this the more at peace you will be.

I see all the media and posters talking about OSU going to #1 as a means to put Bama in and avoid Bama LSU. That may be true, but i see it as a means to get OSU to the title game. 1 2 3 are set with #3being defending champs who hasnt lost since?? #4 could be any number of Bama Utah OK......so OSU could get the #4th best or..the 6th best.
While 2 and 3 battle it out

If Bama somehow drums AU, gets help where they need, backs in, and knocks LSU out of the first round — LSU fans/Bama haters will be loud.

If Bama backs in and plays their way into the title, I think you get a less incendiary reaction from Tiger fans bitching about advantages of a BYE week or undeserved mulligans.

If the Big XII and PAC 12 champ have 2 losses Alabama is getting in and nobody have any right to complain about it.

Thats probably not going to happen, but if it did Alabama would clearly be the team that should get in.

I completely agree — what I was pointing out is that dropping the Tigers to the 2-spot this week makes any final seeding of LSU explainable after SECCG week. That’s the real move.

Bama may get in, but you will NOT see LSU/Bama or LSU/UGA in round 1 under any circumstance.

I think they’d be open to letting teams play an all-SEC scenario into reality for the title game — but they will not directly set it up in the semis because of the ire it would draw in either case.

UGA actually has the most-f*cked hypothetical situation in play — if they beat LSU & have to play them twice in the same postseason (even if it’s the title game), that’s gonna be some unprecedented 2011-esque BS for them.

But it’s hard to argue LSU out if we’re even considering 1-loss Bama in.

LSU fans should stop complaining — they’re not dissing the tigers, they’re shielding Orgeron & the program’s dream-season from a potential crimson foil.

If Utah wins out, an SEC Championship makes LSU a #1 seed. If Bama sneaks in, LSU is a #2 seed.

That doesn’t make any objective/statistical sense — because it’s completely about the optics of teeing up LSU’s hypothetical nightmare scenario, after 2011: raison detre for the playoff system, Bama fatigue within the conference, and how that would all play.

He’s not wrong. Even if you should be able to pull an upset over Auburn Saturday it is out of Bama’s control. You need some losses the following week to happen.

I think if anyone but Bama gets in at 4, given LSU beats Georgia, then they’ll put LSU at #1. And they would have a good reason with our win over Georgia.
