On this date in 1968, one of the best Alabama vs Tennessee games ABC highlights

1968 Ala vs Tenn This was when this matchup was indeed one of the premiere games. This was the ABC game of the week. Remember, except for tape delay most weekends there was just one game on TV.

Sure,this was 49 yrs ago but when you think of the millions spent on "Gameday" and this 'pre-game' show its almost comical.
Keith Jackson did the play by play in place of Chris Schenkel who was in Mexico City for the 1968 'Summer' Olympics still going on.

This game took place roughly 3 years prior to Mike DuBose’s arrival as a player at the University of Alabama.

Yep.....and as head coach of the OU Sooners Wilkinson engineered the longest winning streak in Division 1 college football history. Forty-something games I believe.

I saw my brother in the Bama vs Ole Miss highlights at the start. Ole Miss won that game 10-8 in Jackson. The game really wasn't that close. Bama blocked a punt for a TD with 8 seconds left and got the 2-pt conversion. That was the first win for Ole Miss over Bama since 1910. 58 years!

I love watching the old televised games on Youtube. A guy named Stephen Barnett has a ton of old games posted from the past 40 to 50 years.

That blocked FG to end the game...that was a heck of a game.
