Just looking around at other SEC parking maps, apparently our situation is pretty typical. Hopefully as attendance drops around find country we see a return to catering to the average fan one day soon.
What "average fan" are you talking about? In this day and age, if you aren't close to selling out your available seats as season tickets, you're in trouble financially. At most schools, reserved parking is a perk of purchasing a season ticket. At A&M, there was a little bit of grumbling when the passes were no longer included with season tickets, but that was due to the fact that the parking was actually run by (and paid to) the parking service that controls campus traffic and parking rather than to the AD, so the AD decided to simply pass through the cost directly, and give folks the option.
I suspect that we're not the only school where that is the case. Parking is a big deal on school days, not just on game days, and raising the funds to pay for that is a major issue that transcends football.

It's best to park in Batesville then start walking from there.
Not on the Hwy, though. I'm pretty sure they'll still tow your arse from Batesville

MSU is as bad or worse. We must have the worst civil engineering dept. in the world. Or maybe it's the best and they continually challenge themselves with f'ed up game-day policies

Can you still park on the golf course? Been a while since I was down there.

No free parking on Alabama's campus. You either have to pay per game, or it's included in higher up Tide Pride packages, or you can purchase season parking passes (which I do).
Even handicap people have to pay now.
Plenty off campus.
