Did the LHN even exist when this game was put on a schedule? If not, how could the administration have known this was going to happen.

Regardless, since Ole Miss is OOC and not the home team, we have no rights. It sucks.

Could be. Course now the cat is out of the bag, doubt this happens again. And the best revenge is for the Rebs to beat them on their local system right after the "Bevo Fast Facts: How many different cows are there?" segment.

Yeah, I don't think either party contemplated the desperate circumstance in which ESPN finds itself to get that weak, useless, content-free channel distributed.

it really hurts the big12 more than anyone. they get a marquee non-con game for the conference and the nation doesn't get to see it. it won't help the big12 conference ratings. it does nothing to help the big12 gain exposure or increase TV ratings for their TV contracts.

Hey what does the rest of the big 12 care? They still laugh at us for leaving the conference while they play yes sir to the burnt orange. That includes OU.

LHN was the beginning of the end of Texas. A&M saved themselves from going down with the conference

And this, folks, is why A&M left the Big Twatever. The LHN takes money out of the conference, at the expense of all conference members not named the buttpirate burnt orange. This is the most self-centered, short-sighted double deal ever pulled off by anyone in college football. They deserve the consequences of their arrogance, which appears to be a terrible OOC going forward. You think A&M is EVER going to play the buttpirates again? frick off. NEVER!!! Unless it's on the SECN and at Kyle for eternity.

In fairness to Ole Miss, the Tech game was already scheduled in conference, not OOC, so there was no prior negotiation. Tech had more power to say no.

The Tech game wasn't a conference game. ESPN tried to put Texas Tech @Texas State on the LHN and Tech threatened to just cancel the game.
LINK

From the article "While Tech would face a significant buyout if it canceled the game, there is no NCAA rule mandating that teams play 12 games a season. "

If Ole Miss really wanted to they could still threaten to break the contract and walk away like Texas Tech did.

There is no reason for that game to fall to the LHN.

The other Big 12 home games that weekend are:
Iowa @Iowa State
Lamar @Okie State
Tulsa @Oklahoma
Georgia State @West Virginia
UMass @K-State

The Ole Miss @Texas game is their best game that weekend. It should have ended up on their national ABC game or ESPN game.

If ESPN gets away with pushing this game to the LHN I hope other SEC teams and even teams from the other power conferences take note and refuse home and homes with Texas.

This kind of crap is also one of the reasons Texas will never get enough votes to join a conference like the SEC. You can now likely add Ole Miss to the list of A&M, Arky, Mizzou, and probably others that would say no way to the horns ever joining.

Sounds like somebody is in breach of the agreements stated intent -- maximum exposure.

Ole Miss ought to back out and schedule a Swac team just to show the Longhorns what conference is really the boss
