Agree because we are trying to figure out TD's greatest mystery. Is corch the biggest troll of all time or a mentally underdeveloped adult with access to the internet.

You guys have lost the upperhand and better program status

Because we have more wins in every single decade? You basically just said winning CUSA and losing the liberty bowl is better than coming 5th in the west and winning the gator bowl. Come on now, they won a championship therefore they're better. Doesn't matter that they finished lower in the polls, played an easier schedule, or won a championship that didn't mean much at the time.

Once again coach, if we are the ones that live in the past and being up our sec championships won in the 60's why are you going so far back? Why not do the numbers from 2001 instead of 1991?

Y'all have Atlanta on us. I'll give you that. And it doesn't matter if we went 7-1 in '03 we still didn't go. I know that. But here's a serious question.
If the '08 Ole Miss team played the '98 State team when they both had everything clicking, who would win?

Both of them had winning seasons. 98 State lost to a 4 win LSU team and got drilled by a 5 win Okie State team.

Cough cough

You know damn well who would win. 99 State would be a better comparison and we would still win because we had a competant offense.

It would be interesting to see. It would be low scoring as hell. If I remember right State had the #1 defense in the country that year (or in '99) and we had our best defense the school has ever seen (excluding '59).

State has played in a Cotton Bowl somewhat recently, Ole Miss has never played in the SEC title game.

98 is recent? Since y'all lost over two decades ago we have won three cotton bowls. Your west championship is about as viable as ours in 03

False. We had the number 1 defense in the nation one of the years in the early 90s with Joe Lee Dunn.

Your 2008 team had it's strength up front on the dline and secondary. Pretty much the same as the '99 team. Snead would be the better QB but Jackie was the better coach.

Yea Nutt would do something stupid like run DMC on the 1 yard line instead of a bigger back.

Agree. I wonder what that team would have done with 2 years under Jackie and Joe Lee Dunn.

Cotton Bowls are the end all be all bowl games, I suppose.

Your fixation on that bowl is something I'd describe as Bundy or coonesque.

For the MS schools I guess. Neither of us have been to a better bowl in the modern era

Which bowl would you like to talk about that we've been to? Liberty, music, maybe independence? I bring it up because it's the best bowl we have both been too and also it illustrates how weak the west was when you won it. The winner of the west goes to the NC game now and apparently so does second. The cotton bowl took us when we finished 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd in the west. Plus we actually won the bowl, three times

The 99 State team had the highest final ranking in Mississippi in 43 years. That makes it the best team in this time period.

After that, I'd go:
'08 OM
'03 OM
'98 MSU
'10 MSU
'09 OM

Your '08 team was a potential national champion, and your '03 team would've been with any defense whatsoever. Both teams lost games they should have won, while winning games they weren't supposed to.

So, since 91
OM
127 total wins
63 SEC wins
9 bowls

MSU
117 total wins
62 SEC wins
9 bowls

3 cotton bowl wins trumphs any of your bowls by a lot. Looks like we're slightly better program still.
