I'm strictly basing it on final rankings, since that's the only possible way to relate different "eras". Honestly, the SECw was in a different "era" from 01-09 as well, compared to what it is today. We both missed several GOLDEN opportunities to back into another one during those years, with almost the entire west being down.
Yes, we backed into the SECw title in 98. The 98 team wasn't even on the same wavelength as the 99 team as far as overall talent.
It will take similar "luck" for either of us to ever get back there in the future.

Our 1998 team didnt back into the West title. We finished 6-2 in the SEC and there have been several SEC West champs with 2 SEC losses.

That's a very good question. That defense was so nasty. You guys would have to deal with a whole buncha swag. You could just feel the swag in the air back then. They made old ladies dance.
