Most of the students aren't like that at all. The problem is that while the administration does not condone these things, there are too many hardcore racists that re-inforce each others' ignorant views. And then there are a ton of people (I used to be one) who always want to talk about racial problems in other places whenever Ole Miss was targeted.
But there is a reason Ole Miss has these stories more frequently, and no matter how badly some of their fans want to believe otherwise, it's because racist assholes feel comfortable there. The overwhelming majority aren't like that at all, but there are far too many who feel far too comfortable expressing their hate.

And if the kid is an attention whore who did it himself, why would he refuse to appear on camera?
I don't think Ole Miss as an institution is racist and this could happen on any campus in America - there are idiots everywhere.
It is a terrible shame but we shouldn't condemn Ole Miss as a whole. This could easily happen at Alabama and I certainly wouldn't want one a-hole's actions to stain my University.
After Updyke and the teabagger Alabama fans ought to know better.

There's a big difference from the media miscategorizing or mislabeling what happened vs. saying that absolutely nothing happened.
Are you saying the media is making more out what this kid alleges happened to him (again, watch the video) or are you saying he made it all up and nothing happened?
