How does a coach let his team lose to Tennessee by 52-14 ?????
There is no way Tennessee should have beat Ole miss this bad on this year's Tennessee team.
Low Pro.

Nutt needs to go if you ask me.. He can't call plays he takes very little risk.. Seems like he only shows up vs LSU game that is it.. I have said once and i say it again we need to send him back to R Kansas. By the videos i seen he thinks Cotton Bowl is everything...
Ole Miss fans should be more appreciative of Nutt. It’s been fifty years, FIFTY, since Ole Miss won back-to-back NYD Bowls. Ungrateful bastards.

I wonder if Malzahn could coach a defense. Not to say he can't, but it's not his expertise and if you hire him you better put a top notch DC with him.
He know enough about it to hire someone who could.

I have never understood the "we only care about beating LSU" thing at Ole Miss.

I want to hate Nutt but that is unreasonable considering the fact he has turned the program around. Our defense is AWFUL this year, and we have one of the worst teams I have seen in a long time. That being said, we will still win 5 games this year, when 3-9 was an average season with Coach O's teams.
Considering how bad the Ole Miss football program was under Coach O, I think that Nutt has been some sort of a savior to the school. You can't argue with back to back Cotton Bowl wins after going 3-9 the two seasons before. That being said, if Nutt has another 5 win season next year I think we give him one more year to go 8-4 again; if not he should be gone.

Your O-fer in the SEC wasn't that long ago.

A lot of my friends claim Coach O's teams would have beaten this years squad. I don't believe that, but many people do.

He will be gone after next season. Ole Miss will not improve (mostly due to defensive issues and uncertainty at QB) but the rest of the SECw, with the exception of maybe Auburn, will be improved. LSU, Bama, State and Arky will all be better teams next year than this year in my opinion. Ole Miss drops Utenn and picks up UGA, who could be much better as well. They also open with BYU, which will not be a push-over (better than Jacksonville State at least
).
All of this leads me to believe that Ole Miss probably finishes with a similar record next year, meaning Nutt is shown the door. This season, if nothing else, has dispelled the notion that Nutt performs best when he is least expected to...people expected them to struggle some this year, but not outright suck.

Yeah, not really flaming here but I don't see Ole miss getting better, possibly even worse next year.

This season has been a mystery to me. Back in August, I figured we would win 7-8 games with our schedule and a lot returning on defense. I figured our defense would keep us in most games but we would struggle on offense. The opposite has happened. The least amount of points we have given up all year is 21 to ULL! The D is giving up 35.5 pts per game. That's the worst scoring SEC defense since MSU in 2003. I don't want Nutt gone, I want Nix and a few more assistants to hit the road Saturday night after the game.
Im actually quite please with our offensive production with all the injuries/youth on the OL.

You would think that, and I kind of do as well, but you never know with Nutt

I actually dont think that we will be any better. But that will only make the job less appealing

I just don't see how it is Nix's fault though. I remember at a point last year when I wanted to fire Nutt and make Nix head coach, just because our defense was so successful. You don't go from being a good coach to bad coach all the sudden. I don't know what the problem with the D is, but I have a hard time holding Nix entirely responsible.

We have way to much coming back on offense, we should be just as good there. There is no way we can get any worse on defense so we should be better there. We will be better but our record won't show it because the SEC west is ridiculous year in and year out. 2012 we should be competitive like 2008/2009.

The defense cant tackle, doesnt fulfill their assignments and our DB's are nothing short of god awful. That is 100% the coaches (DC's) fault. Nix's defense can stop the I like no bodys business but if you run the spread or etc at them. He simply doesnt know how to adjust

Sad to say, but this year for OM has reminded me of Jackie's last years. Unforgivable losses, suspensions, players being kicked off, etc. All coaches become washed up at some point, maybe it's Nutts turn.

You're right. I didn't think Croom would ever pull out 8 wins but miracles do happen.

Already preparing your excuse just like me. That fact is we need to get at least 7 wins. Or Hootie needs to GTFO

It is not that the D is bad that everyone wants Nix gone because we have had so many injuries, playing so many fresh and soph. It is the lack of fundamentals that get me. We have continued all season to take bad angles, leave our feet to tackle, not break down, etc that it is frustrating to watch.

I always thought Nix was good as DC. But I think the talent he's had on some of his teams made up for his shortcomings. But there was a reason Spurrier let him go.
