MSU is 522-555-39 all time.

We're right at .500 (not counting ties)...582-582-50 all time.

People talk about balance. We're living it right now. We win and lose in perfect equal measure. It's very zen.

That is a nice, clean even number. Looks pretty.

In my opinion 1959 is the year we really got screwed. That is the year we lost to LSU with the famous Billy Cannon punt return. We still had a chance to win that game late from the one yard line but our third string QB was stopped by Cannon.

We got screwed because LSU was #1 most of the season. We still finished the season #2 behind Syracuse who was undefeated. For some reason Syracuse played #4 Texas for the NC. WTF???? Since when do you play #4 to decide the NC? Ole Miss at #2 ended up playing #3 LSU again and won 21-0. Which is why some polls had us as the actual NC because we played a better team in the bowl game. But oh well. That definitely was a year that the playoff would have been helpful.

Man, integration was kind of the end for Ole Miss football wasn't it?

Actually it wasn't. The team was still pretty tough thru the early 70's even winning the Sugar Bowl in 69. The late 70s and 80s is what killed Ole Miss football. The rest of the SEC continued to build on facilities and resources. Ole Miss became stagnant.

No, it was integration, but probably had more to do with Vaught leaving. He left, with Archie, in 1970. The team went 7-4 and lost the Gator Bowl. In 1971, the Kinards took over. Bruiser, the former All-American as AD, and brother Billy as HC. His first year in 71 was a 10-2 season with a Peach Bowl victory. After this it went all down hill, and Vaught actually came back to finish the 73 season. More bad hires were made, Ken Cooper and Steve Sloan, and it just snowballed from there. Ole Miss didn't have a black player, Ben Williams from Yazoo, until 1972. So, they were behind in integration and many SEC teams passed them, and lesser ones, like MSU, caught up to them. Brewer came on in 83 and began to improve things, but they had fallen to far to catch up by this time. I know all of this because I grew up an Ole Miss fan until I went to MSU and things changed.

Why are they showing crystal ball trophies? No flame.

Same reason their DL coach has three former OM players that are in the NFL on his twitter avatar that he didn't coach. In other words, Sleight of hand...
