Not me. Them kids are old enough to know when to be focused for a game.

On another note, how many of you Ole Miss fans were chewing out Mossberg for not sending Mathis? I wasn't, not because we ended up with a home run but when you have a situation where you have the tieing run in scoring position you don't send him unless you are 90% sure he is going to score when the run doesn't tie the game or take the lead. That play had a 60% success rate IMO. Also Mossberg couldn't see how far the ball rolled down the right field line at his angle.

It didn't bother me. I kind of see it the same way you do.

Damn, I went to the bar and missed the good interweb throw down. Course going to the bar is a win in my book. All shite aside, Rebs played a good game and yeah, the errors helped us to the win. I can admit it, but thats baseball. Looking forward to the other games. And you rebs that worked that softball tourny, you are welcome, State's pitcher had a arse that you can dream about. It looked real good on ESPN 2

I'm not boasting, Pank; I'm just happy we won.

I enjoyed the game. Bottom of the 9th. Tying run at 3rd. 2 out. Either team can win the game on the next pitch. That's good stuff.

I would be butthurt too,if State made 4 errors that led to 5 runs and we lost by 1.That was still a great game to watch for any baseball fan.Glad State won and believe this is going to be a fun series to watch.I think all the games will be close.Good game bears.

So did I. I mean Im not going to trash a team that just beat us, but what did pank say that was wrong? If both teams play as they should, with no errors, OM walks away with that game. It doesnt mean OM is better since defense is part of the game too, but why is it so hard to understand our frustration after losing that game last night? We hit better, and we pitched bettr. Usually thats a W, but because of lack of focus we're down 0-1 in a huge series. Frustrated.

OK but the fact remains he threw one of his better outings (a lot better than last weekend) and you were handed 4 or 5 runs, played almost flawlessly in executing (minus the failed sac but late) and still scraped out a win by the skin of your teeth. Does that really make you feel all warm and fuzzy about the rest of the weekend?
I really think most state posters are so defensive that they take any opportunity to stick their chest out, especially against OM. It might be the little brother thing, it might be Mullen's fine example of bragging after a softball game, but whatever it is, we're not going to see many objective state fans after something positive happens. If something good happens they come up with a grand theory that makes the good a lot better than it is. If something bad happens then its not as big a deal.

As did I... Which is kinda dumb. State fans should be happy to get the win, considering how close the SEC West is right now, but any seasoned baseball fans know that State didn't "win" as much as Ole Miss "lost." Our shitrageous fielding gave you enough runs to win, and our failed attempt to score more than a run when we loaded the bases with NO OUTS against your stud closer was so terribly frustrating.

For those who did watch the game, you do understand if Jaron Sheppard makes the diving catch he attempted with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th you wouldn't have had the opportunity to have hit that 3-run HR.
It's baseball. You can what if all you want, all that really counts is the final score.

A diving catch is a great play. Fielding ground balls or covering first are routine plays. Huge difference.

But it wasn't the pitchers fault. He didn't give up the 5 errors.
Ole Miss also made a couple of amazing catches in the outfield that robbed hits. The three runs we scored in the top of the 8th all would have probably scores with or without the errors.

The E in the first was a hot shot by Parks that could have easily ruled a hit as was the ground ball to short in the 3rd.

uh no. We had one out. Then we committed an error which moved your guy to third. Then you hit a pop up to the outfield to score the runner, that would've been the third out if the error would not have been committed and no one would have scored in the inning. Your "probably" is bullshite. Thats why they have this cool deal that tells you who would have scored if no errors were committed. Its called earned runs.

I missed the first inning, but I saw replays. Was that the ball he hit to third and our third baseball tried to back hand it?

Mississippi, Mississippi State is sincerly sorry that we capitalized on your mistakes and beat you last night. We will try not to let it happen again.
Better?

quote:And we should have been out of the 7th but Shepard misplayed the ball. Cohen tried to be too smart and brought in Girodo (switch hitter, lefty, lefty were up) when he should have left the ball in Pollorena's hands or brought in Reed. Result: 3 run dinger. That's baseball and that's why it's my favorite of the big 3.
congrats and all.....but we gave you 5 runs off of errors. That isn't an excuse. That is a FACT. We played like complete shite. All MSU did was not suck......and even then....you guys only beat us by 1.
