Missouri State is now scheduled to open its 2020 season a week earlier than expected.

The Bears and Oklahoma Sooners will play on Saturday, Aug. 29 in Norman, Oklahoma, after receiving a waiver from the NCAA to move the game up to "Week 0."

The NCAA approved the request to move the game to allow more schedule flexibility in addressing potential issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kickoff time is still to be determined.

With all of the talk around here about the season trending towards not happening, this is looks like maybe a trend in the right direction.

They did this to get a bye week before playing Tennessee. Nothing to do with Covid despite their claims.

I live like two miles from Missouri State's stadium.

They've been practicing quite a bit, even saw Petrino a few times.

Team sucks arse though.

I'm surprised at that as well. Some of the figures were in the link.

A game between the two schools is critical to Missouri State's athletics budget. A game would pay the Bears a $600,000 guarantee payment.

One factor going into Missouri State's upcoming matchup with Oklahoma will be COVID-19 testing. Upon a News-Leader records request on July 15, MSU said it had paid $26,314 on 203 nasal swab tests from May 27 to July 14.

COVID has been relatively kind to the Springfield area.

Around 950 confirmed cases with around 450 currently active (including me ).

Maybe 10 deaths altogether in a county that has 300,000 residents.

I've lived here two years and never been to either.

Didn't Illusions get shut down the other day?

Yeah.

They were too close to a church apparently and amongst other shady business dealings.

Apparently undercover police officers were investigating for over a year. Sounds like they had a bunch of naked ladies on them.

I haven’t decided what I’ll do if I see him out and about here. Part of me knows I should be pissed because we’ve been shite since that day but I think in reality I’d try to buy him a beer

I've seen him driving by the stadium before but never out and about, wonder where he lives?

No way he lives in actual Springfield. It has to be Ozark/Republic/Nixa area.

That’s the difference between Fayetteville and Springfield. Everyone knew exactly where he lived in Fayetteville because the media reported it as soon as he closed on his house. Same with Bielema, Morris and Pittman. You’d barely even know that Petrino’s the coach here though with how little love MSU football gets.
