This is incorrect but an understandably common misconception. All a show cause means is that if you hire someone under one, you have to submit a plan to the NCAA showing specific actions you will take to keep the new coach under NCAA compliance and avoid his past transgressions. He can then coach. The reason most will not touch a show cause coach is because the rehabilitation plan typically limits his recruiting ability and if he commits another major infraction while coach, the infractions committee will want to hammer the program.

If we were gonna hire Kennedy, we might as well stay in mediocrityville and keep Stansbury. Just keep on watching terrible, ugly basketball and enjoying the excitement of being on the bubble every year.
